So I have my 1990 2.5L YJ finally street legal (replaced transmission, exhaust, clutch, plugs and wires) and want to avoid being stranded somewhere on the first few longer drives. I was just looking for some input on what I should be looking at or just replacing (the PO hadn't really been taking good care of it).
Two specific questions are
1 - Should I mess with the carb if its running well now?
2 - The hose coming out of the bottom of the air filter box, what is that called (I need to replace it) is this the pre-heater hose? Im having difficulty figuring out what it is.
Also, if anyone was wondering I had posted a month or so ago about possibly rebuilding my transmission, turns out the main drive / main shaft gear was trashed so I bagged that idea and just bought a used tranmission. My question is, what would cause this gear to fail. It was totally 100% shot, not a single gear left on it (which was part of the reason I was so confused trying to figure out what was wrong with my transmission, initially i figured it was my clutch as I couldn't figure out why not a single gear in the transmission would work).
Thanks for any input.
