So the time has come where I might sell the jeep. Don't exactly want to, don't have to, just wondered what I could get for it. I'd sell for the right price. I'll post the link, what do you guys think is a good asking price? Description is in the listing.
I think basically $10k for a jeep that is in fair condition, missing parts, and has been wheeled aggressively for who knows how long is steep, regardless of the time and money put into it.
No longer a fanatic? Lol. Looks like it was built well but I'm still a rookie at some of this. Are you done with jeeps? I guess it depends on the buyer, somebody who wants one stock or done up. You'll know if you get no calls or emails. What's the least you will take is the question then add a grand or 2 for negotiating. Time will tell.
I'm not totally done with Jeeps, but maybe for the time being. I'm graduating college this week, probably won't have time for wheeling, and would like a little better gas mileage for the commute to work.
Around here, YJs built as mall crawlers (example: SOA, stock axles, no lockers, a few light bars, and 37s) go for $13000-15000 as long as the frame is solid. And my frame is brand new.
I think $8k would be more than fair? List at $10k for negotiation?
Can't speak for your market, but I know around here for 10k I'd expect a much newer model. There's 10 Jeeps around me on craigslist right now that are newer model year and lower price...
That said, you've got a lot of mods into it, but the only type of person that matters to is offroaders...who from my experience prefer building their rigs up to be exactly what THEY want, not buying one pre-built for them.
You'd probably be better off parting it out honestly.
Damn!!! That is crazy and if they get that then good for them! I have a 92 with 118k but not as clean as that. That's a ridiculous price. I think you are OK then with your pricetag, lol.
That would be ideal, but I'm 21, graduating from 4 years of college with loans, and going into a profession that doesn't make much money. 2 toys and a car payment don't make much sense for me right now haha
Just because he is asking that much doesn't mean ge will get anything close to that much. In my neck, that's a $5k jeep at best. Yours would probably do better than his here, if your axals are done wright.
The crazy thing is, he will get it eventually. A few months back, a guy had one with a 6" Rough Country lift, 37s on big chrome rims on stock axles, light bar across the top, Smittybilt bumpers and a badlands winch. He pulled $13,500 out of it, and it had 170,000ish miles on it.
As to mine being done right, it is. All steering components from WFO concepts, proper crossover steering. New bearings and seals in both axles. Aussie locker up front. High quality brake conversion kits on front and rear, to use 1985 K20 front disc brakes all around. At least I can try to justify it by saying "at least I'm not throwing 37s and a light bar on stock axles and selling for $15k" haha
motor capital mitten state prices of non-rusted used box framed YJ's are more than the price of YJ if in near equivalent condition to new. I saw a beautiful 1994 OJ bronco with 125k (looked new) in Dearborn (Colored Yankee Girlfriend wanted to see parents, or is the U.P. considered 'Yankee?") for $13,500.
These vehicles are novelty almost anymore, but with full width axles and crazy paint Id saw $6-$10k depending on buyer. It is modified fairly heavily. Just my $0.02 .
While that goofy (imo) apocalypse edition is way overpriced, it looks to be basically a Sahara with a stock interior and half the miles yours has...gas tank in the right place, etc. That demands the price. Those pouches and sahara seats are NOT easy to come by. Good luck finding that green stock center console without a broken hinge on ebay or CL. Rare.
In the market I'm in, your price is waaaaaaaaaaaay too high. But maybe it'll sell in Michigan.
That is mint with 40k miles on it on an automatic. I mean c'mon, look at those seats. I kinda want to go buy that jeep. lol.
Let us know how it goes...it sucks you have to sell, but YJs aren't the best for DD once you have a job (can be done, but not optimal)...I just bought a JKU for that reason...but I am keeping my YJ too. win win...except on gas mileage haha.
In my area, that is a fair price for a built Jeep like yours. My dad saw a CJ7 with a similar build going for $13k. In Michigan, I'd think that Jeeps would be worth more. They tend to be more valuable in colder climates because of the rough winters phasing out the rotted Jeeps.
That's what I was thinking. A typical YJ around here is rotted out, with frames needing work. And they go for $3000-5000 with 200,000 or so miles.
