Q?: Did the Stock YJ Family cage come with pads on the main cross bar?

My son, who can't seem to climb into the back of a motor vehicle like a normal human, managed to almost knock himself out on the unpadded center cross bar. I'm talking about the one that runs from side to side the sound bar would attach to directly above the driver and passenger headrests.

Being directly above occupant heads it would seem logical to have it padded when things get rough. Anyone know if there was a stock pad on there and I can buy a replacement? If not, any good suguestions for a decent looking DIY solution?

Thanks in advance....

Thanks

If you can't find an original one to put on there, check your local plumbing/heating supply house for a piece of foam 'pipe insulation' for the diameter of that tube. Pool noodles won't work-the diameter of the hole isn't big enough.
Or get your kid a helmet...LOL...
reminds me of the 5th wheel trailer we had for a couple years...the main bed was over the hitch area, queen size bed but low ceiling...my wife and I more than once knocked ourselves over standing up or getting out of bed on that ceiling!

I was thinking of pipe insulation but got stuck on what/how to wrap it to make it look right. Zip ties rank right up there with WD40 and duct tape in my book but it's not quite the look I wanted....

I could buy a complete new set but I hate to do that when I only need one piece as the rest are in decent shape. Thought about the scrap yard but finding a decent one might be a strech. Especialy if the donar vehicle was rolled or has been sitting in the sun.
