If you're burning around a quart or so between oil changes, that's perfectly normal and not worrisome. More than that and something is wrong. The synthetic is more viscous, so I guess it's possible that it's seeping through your valves/seals a little more than conventional would, but regardless of oil type it's not normal for an engine to lose a significant amount of oil... Unless you have like a 2007 Audi A4 in which case you might as well just throw the oil out rather than put it in!
Your wrangler does not exactly have a "high performance" engine, so there's really no need to use full synthetic. Conventional or synthetic blend changed every 5000 miles or so will do you just fine.
