OK, im sure you guys see hundreds of "is this jeep worth the price" threads, so Im not going to ask that.. I hope my question ends up being a little different..
would you pay the extra price IF the jeep has been meticulously taken care of AND its 99% exacctly what you want? from your favorite color, to the engine/transmission combo, etc.?
Details about this one in particular: 93, 4.0, 5-speed, a/c, cruise, tilt steering, hard top, stock suspension and tires, still great life left on the tires, gray color (sort of dark gray, one of my three favorites, next to dark blue and dark green), gray cloth interior, original radio (cassette) and speakers (would replace them soon after anyway), 83,000 miles. no stains inside, very little scratches outside, carpet looks almost brand new, not worn down like you'd expect from a 17 year old vehicle, but still looks original. I told the folks on another forum, that if you didn't know anything about jeeps, you'd say this one isn't over 5 years old. I'd be willing to bet that the thing hasn't been offroad for more than 5 minutes of its life..
the only problem I would have, (more or less just an "issue"), I have a pretty bad gut going on and the steering wheel is close to rubbing it. steering isn't really a problem, but I'm afraid if I get in a wreck it might cause me internal damage from the wheel jabbing into my stomach (even though i ALWAYS wear a seatbelt).. don't worry, i'm working on a diet..
I'm not going to name a price, but for comparison, I recently looked at a 2003 wrangler sport auto with a 4.0, aand about 20k more miles than this YJ, and the prices are almost the same.. the YJ is cheaper, but close enough to being the same.. oh, and the TJ doesnt have the steering wheel issue
Theres two ways to look at it. its a 17 year old vehicle and no car that old could be worth that much, OR, its a "like new" classic that i can put at least another 100k miles on before i start shopping again..
