Rear driveshaft pricing

Got a price quote for a rear driveshaft (OEM) from a buddy at a dealer today, right around $200. That sound about right? Chrysler PN is 52098219. The price is right in line with aftermarket replacements I've found in places like quadratec.

I have cracks around the rear U joint caps so thought I'd better replace it, and don't do anything extreme enough to warrant an SYE conversion or anything like that. It's a 92, 4.0/5 speed, with only a 2" shackle lift to clear 31x10.50 tires. Nothing big, just enough to get me around in the snow when I need it (like the other night, driving home in 1.5" of freezing rain and sleet - what fun THAT was...).

I know. I'm a poseur

You could take your shaft by a driveline shop, and have a new yoke welded in for a lot less than that, and probably be better off.

If there's a will, usually there's a way, but then you get to that bolt that you still can't get to with two extensions, two universal sockets, and a contorsionist midget trying to help you.

1999 XJ Four door, mostly stock for now, but I am in the process of building a custom plate bumper.

I would call an off-road shop in your area, and see if they have any they took off for some on doing the SYE conversion.
