rear view mirrors

my side mirrors keep pointing down. i don't really know how to fix this so any info would help. i tried unscrewing the under side of the mirror, but now the screws wont go back in. and there is a rattling noise coming from the inside.

We were having some problems with ours a while back too, on the passenger side. But we've since taken the doors off and don't use them anyway. lol
