Rebuild 4.2, used replacement, or remanufactured ?

Anyone rebuild a 4.2 six cylinder ? Tossing the idea of a used vs ring and bearing, cam, lifters, valves rebuild. I'm sure parts are available but may be quite pricey. At least some piece of mind that it has more reliability. Could also consider a remanufactured also. My block has 90k on the clock.

throw block away and get a $10 used 4.0 block. build a stroker.. =) evil laugh...

figure the 4.2 in my 81/50 conversion was puttin 60-65hp to the tires, maybe 80 at the flexplate. the 4.6 will be putting 260+ at the flexplate and over 200 to the tires...

Don't believe I need that much power to drive through the wooded portion of our land. The stream crossings might be a challenge though. It's going to be a full size ATV, not for highway use or racing. The only extra power I'm considering is a heavy duty winch. Thanks anyway !

i agree though in an upgrade. maybe 4.0 head swap and fuel injection. you can get rebuild parts for under 500 to do the whole rebuild for the 4.2
