Regearing my Diffs

Hey guys, long time no talk. I miss this place...hope all of you are well. anywho, Im going to be regearing my jeep this summer with 4.10 gears, and to make a long story short, I was looking on quadratec for my ring and pinion gears, and they have them, but I talked to someone at quadratec, and they told me I would need new spider gears and a new differential case assembly because my jeep now is runnin 3.07s. I understand the spider gears, but at first I thought he meant the entire pumpkin housing that the gears are in as the assembly, but is he talking about just this part? and this even comes with the gears needed

http://www.quadratec.com/products/52410_10.htm

you can see it also in this pic, number 7
http://www.quadratec.com/advisor/jee.../axleYJ30F.php

any info from you knowledgable jeepers would be greatly appreciated. thanks

you'll need a new carrier. the carrier is waht the ring gear bolts to. dana axles use shims between the carrier and carrier bearings to set backlash. the carrier break is at 3.73, and i beleive is machined a hair different to put the ring gear where it belongs. for example, a 4.88 ring gear is WAY thicker than a 3.07 ring gear, so the carrier change helps alleviate that. i've got a dana 35 carrier id give you, but its a little bit messed up where the retaining bolt for the center pin is, and i dont know if itd be worth messing with. if you're planning on lockers, do it now, as that would change the need for you to buy spiders, or the carrier (depending on what type of locker you get)

i have 3.73 carrier out of a dana 30 HP thats good if ur interested. i cant recall if its 3.73 and up or 3.73 and down is the break. someone will chime in.......

so that carrier is what that link is for right? thats what i need to buy, and the actual round metal housing is all the same for the different gears, the entire carrier and new gearing will fit correct? sorry if these are dumb questions, just wanna be sure. and i think it's 3.73 and up, not positive either though

and about the lockers, I dont think im going to put any lockers on my jeep, its more of a dd, and i can't really afford it, but maybe way in the future i'll think about it. waaaayyyyy in the future. haha

The carriers are 2.72-3.54 and 3.73-5.38 for the standard rotation and 2.73-3.54 and 3.73-4.56 for reverse rotation.

how much for the D30 carrier? I need one. I'm going from 3.07 to 3.73. I might be mistaken but I believe all that is needed is the carrier. I think spider gears will fit either carrier. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

well, you're in luck. If im not mistaken, i have 3.73 R&P on said carrier, complete with spiders. i cant imagine why the spiders would be different carrier to carrier but i dont know for sure, so i cant say.

i'd take $35 bucks + shipping for carrier, 3.73 R&P, and spiders. i wouldnt even charge the 35 bucks but i gotta pull it apart, and its stupid hot here right now

to the OP, the link you have looks like its for the right part, just make sure you get it for the right gear set (coyote yj mentioned the break point above)

if you want the carrier coyote, hit me up before this weekend and ill pull it sunday. otherwise, itll have to be a week or two.
