Reviews on this winch

Harbor Freight $59.99

Camouflage 12 Volt 3000 Lb. Capacity Wireless Remote Controlled Portable Winch with Roller Fairlead

Does anyone have experience with this winch? I just need one that will hold up to pulling my jeep out and maybe a few friends vehicles. I don't do much wheeling so I don't need a big fancy one and I'm only 17 so I also don't have a ton of extra money.

You'll either burn out the winch, kill your battery forever, or start an electrical fire, YJ's weigh 3,000 lbs right out of the factory, and it you ever need to use a winch then that means that you're going to need a lot more force then it would take to pull it on flat ground.

Sorry dude but a winch isn't something you want to go "bargining" for

No. put the 60 toward a warn m8000 that will be more than what you need and will last.

x2. I can't afford to buy cheap. meaning I don't like to keep buying things that break. the cheapest winch I would buy is the warn m8000. I've seen them on the trail and they hold up. better to wait and buy something good once.

Or get a hi lift jack that you can use as a winch if you have some chain. And it's also a jack and jaws of life and a bottle opener! Highly recommended

Point proven haha, i think for your budget and if you dont wanna wait till you get enough for a real winch you should get a hi-lift. Even after you get a winch you're still probably gonna need to buy one.

I also like the Warn winches, but there are other brands that work fine.

But if you can't afford a winch, then I'd suggest a come-along hand winch. They will move you a foot or two, and that's frequently enough.

Most of my winch adventures have involved moving the back end slightly, to free it off a rock, or moving the Jeep mostly sideways to get back on a trail. Short moves, without needing to lift the entire Jeep.

The need to pull the entire weight of the Jeep up a cliff, say, is rare. And usually only happens when you actively go looking for really hard places to wheel.

And, since you're going with buddies, a good snatch strap is a really smart thing to buy. That's what you're going to use when one of you gets stuck in the mud.

Is it bad that I totally thought this was a joke? I mean seriously? I actually did see one of these on the front of a YJ at a grocery store near my house and I laughed uncontrollably. Even if you were just going for the winch "look" it's pathetic. It's about the size of a pencil sharpener.
