Personaly I could care less what shape the headlights are, but I can tell you that spending money on mods that do not get further up or down the trail are a waste of time and money. The shape my headlights never made it easier to get through a trail. So if that is mod is money well spent to you, we walk in a different world. Have fun at the mall.

if your rig is strictly a trail rig then i agree. otherwise there is nothing wrong with doing mods to make it look good. not everbody is concerned with mods that only get the jeep further down the trail because not everybody uses their rig as a trail rig.

ya know, some rigs are daily drivers. absolutley nothing wrong with a mod that looks cool. i wouldn't say that LED tail lights would get you further down the trail but they sure look sweet.

I wasn't arguin'. Just pointin' out that you were wrong. All the YJers, except for the one that started the thread, know you're in error. The guy that started the whole debate has never come back, so he probaby has seen the error of his ways.

Ok, I'll chime in. No I don't agree that changing the headlights on your rig from square to round is right. But if you own it, make the payments on it, or whatever. It's your rig and do with it what you please. If you want to put a Ford motor in it and Chevy bow tie on the grill - knock yourself out.

HOWEVER< if you post post up a question like that in the YJ chat you deserve the ridicule you're getting. I guarantee you that no one who frequents this forum is going to give you much usefull advise on how to convert your YJ to a TJ.

BUT <<---- To each his own. If you want to do it then knock yourself out. I just wouldn't post any "before and after pics" and expect someone not to say something about it.

Just my .02

Oh, come on guys, I thought we didn't flame people around here, I thought we weren't "that" kind of forum. Heck, if I owned a yj I'd put a CJ clip on it just to piss people off. I already have all the parts laying around. I could have a '95 CJ-7 how trick would that be. Maybe I'll buy one just to do it. (I'm leavin' before I get my arse kicked) and you get the feather too! LOL.

No one is flaming. Just voicing opinions. I'm not saying it's wrong, just saying that if you ask a die-hard YJ owner about putting round headlights in a YJ you're going to get some pretty strong responses. It's almost like talking religion or politics. Like I said - to each his own. If he wants to do it then go ahead. Just be prepared for what's coming.

Aw Scout, I was just jokin'. I don't really care one way or the other. I personally like round lights better. But yj's don't look bad either. Just a matter of what your likes are. Hell, who cares? Does it really matter as long as your having fun in, under, on, or around your jeep? They're just a great platform to play with. A lot of people would say we're nuts, taking a vehicle that's still under warranty (not anymore!) and modifying so much that It'll never be the same. I don't have the wildest rig out there, but not the mildest either. It's built for me and that's the way, uh huh, uh huh, I like it, uh huh, uh huh.

Ha ha ha!!! Agreed. I just didn't want the poor guy to think I was torching him. I just wanted to prepare him for the rash of sh*t he's gonna get from everyone else.

Does anyone make a round to square conversion kit? Then I can hang with you YJ guys. YJ Rubicon...hmmm...kinda has a nice ring to it...

I think I'll just become a spectator of this here thread.

Uh huh uh huh..YEAH that's the way uh huh uh huh...

Yeah, You know, If you had some big square headlight bezels, you could probably trim your grill to fit 'em and pop some square lights in. I bet that would really fire some people up! I would love to see that. I don't know though, if I spend much more money on my jeep right now, my wife might shoot me. "Didn't you just change the headlights? Now you want to make them square? what's wrong with you? (Shotgun cocks...) BOOOOOMMMM!!!!" That's probably how that would go. I'll catch you later Scout, take it easy.

That's all good. The worst light application on any Jeep is the marker lights built into the fenders. I have never liked that, but I wouldn't spend any money just to change it, because I didn't like the look.

Oh, and if you wanna stick a CJ clip on a YJ, you might think twice if you see the one that was done by one of the members here. I still can not find the thread, but it did not turn out well. The CJ hood is much higher and the grill is taller. It was at a very bad angle.

Anyway, this forum is different, but no one wants their jeep insulted. That's personal to some of us.

I saw a conversion kit from Square to Round for sale, somewhere, just a week or so ago. ??? I can't remember who had it or where it was.

If I come back across it, I will post a link. It looked like a manufactured item and not home made. If I remember right it was like a new bezel insert that you trimmed into the grill.

It's just wrong on so many levels. Kind of like sticking a 6" body lift in.

Mr spacomponents, what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things ive ever heard. At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rationall thought. Everyone who read your response is now dumber. Well, I've though about it a bit and I decided that if you reay wanted to have a jeep with traditional round headlights, and also wanted a great jeep to build, a YJ is the perfect pick.

Just wanted to take this time to apologize to Amerijeep and anyone else who might've taken offense to my vicious and cruel attacks on square headlights. Just know that from my end, it was all meant in fun, and I would expect that all of you owners of square headlighted (YJ) Jeeps would feel free to take potshots at us round lighted bretheren for the sake of the fun of it.

What better fun than friendly rivalry, right ?

LED tail lights are not only cosmetic, especially if they are flush fitting. This means that when you are done bashing rocks your tail lights are still in tack. The stockers can get pretty banged up hanging off the back. They are also superior lights....and come in any shape.
