Question ROUND headlights for YJ???

can anyone direct me to how to put round headlights on a YJ?

somebody must have done this by now, and I'm hoping there are aftermarket grilles I can buy that have them???

Ah so, young grasshopper. I see you want to convert to the dark side. There is no yj grille that will run round headlights that I know of, but, I have good news. Late model cj grilles and fenders (76-86) will bolt right on to your tub. So you'll have a yj that looks like a cj-7. Savvy?

1999 XJ Four door, mostly stock for now, but I am in the process of building a custom plate bumper.

Yeah..uh huh. We can help ya out with that. Come on by this weekend and we'll get her taken care of. I think I have one square to round headlight conversion kit left. I was going to send it to amerijeep but I'll let you have it.

Seriously though. The only way I know to do that would be to change out the entire grill of your Jeep. Are you sure this is what you want to do? If you don't mind me asking - why do you want to do it?

This well probably be the last time I speak to you, since there is no mutual respect, but there was a company at one time that sold a conversion. I don't know who or any other details. Only that I have seen it.

Best thing I could tell you is sell your jeep and buy one that has the headlights you want, since that is what is important.

Gotta admit, the title of this thread caught my eye.

Why wouldn't you want to do this conversion ?

It's really the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. What a freakin' waste. That's all you want to spend money on is changing headlights? MOG, you have a haibt of downing the YJ every chance you get. No one on here is the one that stiole your milk money. Let the anger go.

like someone said before the later cj models bolt right in. youll have to take out your grill completely. and then put in the cj grill. then get a cj radiator. they do bolt in.

There is no way I believe that. They aren't even shaped the same. There is a thread on here somewhere that has a memeber that defaced his YJ and put on a CJ front clip. It did not fit well. I'll see if I can find the thread.

I hafta agree with Amerijeep, not because I'm a jeep expert, but because I just carved all three out of clay and the YJ grill has a distinctive shape. The lines are different.

If you're determined to ruin your Jeep, then check this thread. I couldn't find the one I was thinking of, but we talk about the one I was thinking of....

Sad, but here it is...

After spending many $'s on creating an awesome, kick butt, YJ, someone showed me an article about round headlight grills, that are direct replacements, for the YJ. I told that person, no thanks, I do not wish to desecrate, disrespect, blasphemy, such a classic look. But yes, it should be available for sale, by now. I just do not remember the magazine, that it was in, or who builds it. There is just something very different, and very likeable, about the looks of a YJ. Especially, when you let it grow, to full stature.

i have a 4 wheel magazine and there was a black YJ in their with a round headlight conversion. he had round CJ headlights. it looked sweet and better IMO. i can look up the article if you want. i think it says a little something about how to do it because it was under the "tricks section". let me know.

'merijeep is very sensitive about his square headlights. As a child the others laughed and pointed. He eventually used electical tape to make his lights look round, until he decided corners was where it's at. He now leads the local chapter of Square and Proud....... ok it's early and I just got up, I'm not totally awake and I forgot where I was going with this

You want to know why YJ headlights are square... Because they don't cut corners !!!

It is certainly easier to spot a fellow YJ-er!

Don't do it.

I personally find it wrong that you want to deface something that many have come to love, but do what you want but i will not respect you at all after killing something so great.
