Every time I try putting on my seat belt it locks up I have to pull it really hard for it to unlock and various times ... Anyone know what's wrong with it?
They get crap in there, get a flashlight see if you can see anything obvious, you may be able to pull stuff out, otherwise as mentioned you could spray wd40 in there see if you can dislodge something. I've also had the belt get off track and get caught in the gears. I took it apart and cleaned it really good and rewound it back in line.
I have fixed literally hundreds of seat belts that had some sort of crap in them everything from loose change , French fries , coffee , dirt , mud , soda you name it. On a Jeep its more likely that it was mudded and dirt got in the buckle assembly than not. Mine were I cleaned them and the buckles work perfectly. I wasn't so luck with the retractors I had to replace those.
My seatbelt got locked so far in once I had to call a buddy to bring me a torx socket so I could take the damn thing off and give it some slack. What a pain, I feel you.
