Be gentle...I'm a newb. I need new shackles for my 95 YJ stock suspension and almost all of them say they lift the vehicle 1.25". Sounds cool to me, but does that make a difference in regards to any other components or can I just "plug and play" the shackles? Also, I'm seeing "front" shackles, "rear" shackles and "just" shackles. What's the diff and why do some specify location and others don't? I'm also going to replace the leaf springs next month and am open to any and all recommendations. Prepare yourselves, I'm just getting warmed up! Everyting gwan be Ire!!
if you're gonna do the springs soon just wait, skip the lifted shackles. they're a quick and cheap lift, but they change the suspension geometry and put more load on the front of the spring.
some will say front and rear because the fronts have to have a rounded end to miss the bumper when they move, others are all round corners.
Thanks for the info! I have to replace the shackles. I'm not replacing them for the lift, I'm replacing them because I pushed my finger through 2 of them from rust. I noticed last weekend when I was replacing my muffler and tailpipe. This is actually my paycheck to paycheck build. This paycheck is shackles and bushings, next paycheck is springs. I have 2 rust rot places on my frame both about softball sized that need repaird too, but I weld so that won't be too bad. I have to fix the bad stuff before I can worry about the cool stuff like lifts, big tires and major mods. Does anyone have any advice on springs?
rubicon express. flat out. unless you want so order a set of alcan's.
