Should I use a trail rated badge to cover this?? Give me your opinions

The PO had a trouser trout hood ornament on the hood of my YJ so I cut it off. Instead of bondo and repainting the whole hood I was thinking of sanding filling and placing the trail rated badge over it... Stupid? Maybe cool? complete waste of time? Tell me what you think the pics show the holes left.

Before Cutting it off

After Cutting it off

I would fill the holes sand the damaged area then see how much a bodyshop would charge to paint the hood, Lots of painters do side work you could possibly buy the supplys and a $50 they could do it off the clock

It was a giant jumping fish probably 4-5 in tall and CHROME!!!! TROUSER TROUT is the only description I could think of after seeing it in person. So you think the trail rated badge is a bad idea? I just wanted something easy for now so Im not riding around with two holes in my hood.

or I thought about welding in two bullet casings cause it is the exact size of a .45 casing and then bondo over that and paint. A little redneckery never hurt a jeep I just want it to look either normal again or maybe just cover with the trail rated badge

Lmao. Trouser trout. Do something other than a trail rated badge. Those reek of TJ/JK & your YJ needs to remain pure.

.45 casing sounds cool. Then again I like personalizing stuff. It's your Jeep dude. Do what you do.

I don't mind the badge idea. You could fix the damage and then bedline the front 5 inches of the hood. That would also be some protection from future rock chips. You could also do it all yourself.
There is also always the Jeep Bra. Not my favorite option.

Red duct tape.

I actually like the bed liner idea to add a little rock chip protection and you won't have to worry about matching the original paint.

I put the casings in, pin side up of course, and call it a wrap.

I have thought about the casings they would be something different, I think I will put the casings in to fill the holes anyway then bond over the casing just so I have actual metal there instead of the bondo. We will see how it goes. As long as it isn't a 4 in jumping fish off the hood I will be happy. What a disgrace to our brand to A put a stand up hood ornament and B to make it a chrome fish of all things.

No I didn't, I ended up on the road all week end chasing jeep parts on craigslist... I got a super top frame, a top, and traded my factory wheels and tires for mud tires and some rims.
