Smittybilt Replacement soft top

I currently have a Bestop replace-a-top and I love it but it is well past needing replaced. 6 years is a good run if you ask me. I am on a super strict budget and so $470 for a Bestop is out of the question. I have heard good things about Smittybilt products but I haven't heard much about their soft tops... does anyone have one? Like it? hate it? TIA

i have one, my first one i had leaked a little and they were really good about getting a new one out to me. bit of wind noise as it seems thinner than the bestop, apart from that im happy with it. for the price you cant really go wrong.

bta2011, just curious what the problem is with the top? Is it windows or the actual top? Are any of the windows still usable?

Mostly the top. Its just wore out. Its louder than it should be and it leaks like crazy from the windshield channel because the plastic strip that goes into the channel is bent all to hell. Also the plastic strip on the back that secures the top to the back of the Jeep is coming loose. The Driver upper door skin window has a crack in it from the cold. (I'll take a pic and post in the morning) But all other windows are in good condition. Small minor scratches here and there. They've been on for 6 years I'm surprised there isn't more scratches on them. I plan on washing the Jeep and using a cleaner for this type of plastic on it and see how they turn out. If I had the $ I wouldn't even be asking this. I would go back to Bestop. I love this top.

Hmmm....if the problem wasn't both the top and a door, you could probably just replace the bad part, but I imagine the cost would be nearly the same for the top and door skins only wouldn't it. Could you sell the good parts to help recoup the cost? What color is the top?

Charcoal gray color code 09. I never thought about that. I don't know how much I could get for it though. I want to go with a black top. Would I be better off selling it as a whole minus the driver side door skin or ask a separate price for each piece like $50 for a back side window $90 for both. The windows are tinted.

Heck you could probably get $200 for it all and put it toward the new one you really want. You could even put it on Craigslist if you want to avoid shipping it out, but can't hurt to put the top in the classifieds right her on WF too. Good Luck!!

How do I avoid shipping it out if I put on CL? What should I ask for it?

If you post an add on Craigslist, you can make the posting in the state/area/city you live in. It's free and pretty darn easy. Most of your responses will come from local Craigslist traffic, so they can just come and look at the stuff you have to offer. Ask $250 complete (gives you room to move for negotiation). I don't know where your from so I don't actually know your market, but I've had really good luck!! It's not like E-bay....no fees, just people wanting and needing stuff.
