soft top problem

I recently got a 1995 Jeep Wrangler used, and it came with a hard top and doors with sliding windows. I got a Pavement Ends Flip Top and just put it on today, and it seems to work well everywhere but right by the doors. There's a big gap between the fabric by the quarter window and the side of the door, on both driver and passenger sides. Living in Louisiana with lots of rain, this isn't gonna work.
I'd like to know whether this is how it is supposed to fit, and if not, how is it supposed to keep the rain out in that area? I mean, it obviously can't attach to the doors because then they wouldn't open...so is it just supposed to have more fabric?
Thank you for reading and I hope someone can help!

try moving the whole top forward. the rear corners might be the culprit. look at where it attaches at the curved pieces. let me know. mike
send a pix of rear corners and gap to me at NAVYCHIEF872000@YAHOO.COM

I`m not quite sure what you are explaining but the bottoms of your top, (makes sense doesn`t it? bottom of the top, sheesh,) but anyways, along the top of your door there should be like a slot and on the bottom of the top itself, there should be a hard vinyl runner that tucks into it, (f its what I`m thinking here,) but hey, from everything I know, (which ist`much) and everything I hear, they all leak,,**LOL**

Do you have a top with square corners and the doors have round corners? I don't really understand what you are saying the problem is.

It's hard to explain, so here are pictures I took today:

driver side:

rear corner, like NAVYCHIEF asked for:

passenger side:

driver side, view from inside:

Looking at it today, I noticed that if I were able to move the vertical bar that is adjacent/parallel to the door (where the gap is) CLOSER to the door (like if I could pull it towards the outside of the car) it would make a tighter fit. But I don't think that's possible, given the way it had to be attached..it fit into a socket at the bottom, and screwed into a specific hole in the horizontal bar at the top..so I think there was really only one way to attach it.

I have one of those Pavement End fliptops in my jeep warehouse. Somehow, it looks like yours is on correctly. Could you post a pic of your door uppers where you can see more of them? Something looks funny to me, but I can't pick up on it.

It is your door uppers. They don't come back as far as either of my door upper sets do. Indicated crudely by the red line.

Ok. Don't laugh at my jeep. I have had it for as long as some new jeepers have been alive and at the time the only upgrade I had performed was the wrangler forum performance enhancing decals.

I need to post something more current...

That was many dollars ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Anyway, this is the only pic I could find that showed the Pavement Ends fliptop with the door uppers that came with that top. You can see in the pic that the uppers extend back more than yours do.

Well, the top I bought came without upper doors because I wanted to keep the sliding windows that I have. I assumed it would fit closer to the windows, though. Or maybe the set that comes without the upper doors is meant for a Jeep that has no doors at all..or has only lower doors.

it looks like the rh side sits more forward than the left. your verticle seam is leaning rearward, not completely verticle. also, try and move that corner outward in the rear and forward along the side. try and get that seam straight up and down. i had a 90 with a sunrider and hard upper doors with sliders. it fit just fine. i'd say more stretching and tugging before dumping the uppers.

I disagree with navychef. It is the uppers, no doubt. I have sliding glass uppers and they are made differently than yours. No amount of stretching and tugging is going to fix that.

Sorry Chief. I respect you, but I am certain that is Chloe's issue, and I am just trying to help.
