Soft Top - wind inside the jeep

I just recently swapped my hard top with a soft top. I notice that when I'm on the freeway and it's windy, I can feel air coming through the top of the windshield...causing the soft top to expand out an inch or two on the top. Just curious if this is normal, or if there's something wrong...like my windshield plate not flush enough with the surface. Any feedback would be appreciated...thanks!

Between the two header track halves, (on my 1990 YJ) there is a small space. You could silicone seal it if you take the top off long enough for the sealer to dry. Mine even lets in little drops of water when its raining. They actually hit me in the face sometimes.

Also there could be some kind of seal that goes under the header tracks that I never did see, or know about. It really doesn't bother me too much, because I know it's a jeep. I'm prolly lucky to be reasonably warm & dry.

Yeah, i put some caulk around my screw heads as well as the length of the track halves. Works good...lasts a long time

I'll give that a try...thanks. I guess I'm just worried about a strong wind putting too much pressure on the soft top...causing it to rip off or something like that. Maybe I'm over-worrying though?

i heard a good trick is to add more screws to the rail to give it a firmer hold as well. I run a hard top right now. But the advice I get from everyone I have talked to about putting a soft top on is to cinch that motha down.

it is probably impossinle to get an air tight seal with all the little nooks and crannies there are in a jeep. i don't think i've ever seen a soft top going down the road at 45 mph or more that was not puffed up.

It's beautiful. It's like a song.

An inch or two of "puffing up" is perfectly normal, and won't cause problems. Jeeps don't seal up, so you'll get air inside and it will find a way out.
