I port and poliched mine when pulled it off. Just disconnect the sensors and undo the four bolts. Use liberal amounts of starter fluid but make sure it is safe for your sensors and that you make sure it is fairly dry before you put it back on. its late so I will give you a better answer tomorrow lol

you don't have to remove it if you don't want to. i'd say get carb clean, or throttle body cleaner. open the throttle plate and spray some in. an old toothbrush works good to scrub the junk. wipe it out with a rag as best you can and repeat. don't get crazy with the chemical. and it will be a little hard to start at first, put the pedal down while cranking and you might have to keep it running for a second.

You dont have to take it off but it makes it alot easier plus all that crap that you spray off runs down into your intake manifold. Its not hard taking it off but like dave said you could do it with it on. If you want to be real thorough you can take the two screws out of the throttle plate, slide it out, then pull the shaft out. You then have free access to the entire interior. Just my .02
