I think the over-head speaker bars are the way to go. On my way to pick one up shortly. Don't put speakers in the door, cause then you can't take the doors off!

I have my speakers in a bar right in front of my face in my XJ and I love it. When I pull the doors the sound is all still there. (except the time I drowned my amp)

I have a Kenwood head unit with 4x6 speakers in the dash, 6 1/4 speakers in a sound bar and 6 1/4 speakers in a custom box I made to replace the back seat area it sounds great. This a pic of the speaker box / security trunk.

I got kickers in the dash and a Soundbar above the head. This Summer I want to add the Pioneer TS-SWX251

Then I'll be happy.

Whatever head unit I can find (they don't last long) pioneer 4x6 in dash which stay covered in red clay or getting garden hosed off and he'll if I know about the sound bar it's rarely ever in cause I do a lot of windshield down jeeping probably just paper cone el cheapos in the beat to shit sound bar. Sounds fairly good until the head unit starts going south from mud/water. I've gotten almost to the point where I can tell within a few wheeling trips when my radio is gonna kick rocks towards radio heaven just by sound quality lol.

I have 6 1/4 speakers in mine I had to cut the hole larger and you have to watch the depth and the size of the magnets.

I have a JVC "digital media player" head unit. Basically it's a tuner with iPod,USB and SD connections and Pandora ready. No CD player. 2 Pyle 4x6 polypropylene marine speakers in the dash. I've got a sound bar, just haven't had the time to get it in yet.

Subs in the roof, damn! I bet that is loud! I have a soundbar with 6 1/2" cheap Sony NoXplodes in them. I would go with a soundbar with marine speakers in it and there is a speaker box system that fits under the dash too that a friend has and it sounds decent. He has a pair of Boss' in them which are pretty sucky, but if they get stolen, it's not that big of deal.

I got a $27 (with shipping) marine radio off ebay. the listing said 60W system but it doesn't sound like it! My doors don't lock an I didn't want to tempt anyone to steal a good one. I'm regretting not getting a Sony or something decent.

Hey john that is one of the cleanest looking systems I have seen. Who built that? And if you don't mind me asking how much was that? I am Incredibly jealous. I'm building a system right now. 2 6x9 in the vdp boxes behind front seats. 6 1/2 in original sound bar. 2 10" jl w3 subs in the rear. Might add 2 more speakers on the trans hump in front of shifter.

This is the wive's toy. I wanted blue. She wanted purple. Not to argue. She has her toys and I have mine. I added blue and purple. The purple actually is same a black light. Looks pretty cool when wearing florescence colors.
