square to round headlights

Does anyone know if there is a way to convert the headlights on the YJ from round to square. I guess that OMIX-ADA is not going to sell the conversion kit. I hate to sell out, but I really do like the round headlights better and can not afford a TJ and CJ's are too old.

Get the front fenders, hood and grill from a CJ and just swap it out.

It can't be as easy as that. What about just switching the grill? Any chance on that with a little grill modification?

Thanks

Por Que?

I drive a TJ...

Over the years I have seen a lot of Rigs and I don't recal ever seeinig Rounds on a YJ. I'm not saying it can't be done but I have never seen anyone do this.

It's okay to have two Jeeps. YJs Play well wiht TJs.

Ask any Jeeper and they will all tell you the same thing, "I wish I had never sold my first Jeep"... no matter what a big heap it was.

It kills me to not still have my CJ-8 if I ever run across that old Jeep again I will buy it back.

Actually, a lot of guys use YJ tubs when they replace them on their CJ's. With a little drilling and some minor trimming, you can have a CJ front on your YJ...

What I want to know is, whats so bad about square headlights!? CJs are too narrow in the grill and TJs are everywhere. Theres a place for those square headlights in the jeep world. Idk. I guess its my opinion, but theres other things to worry about on your jeep besides the headlights

I agree. I don't understand the point either. Sounds dumb to spend lots of money to change something that you should be proud of anyway.

Hey, Michael, don't let them fool you into thinking that it's hip to be square. They're just jealous.

Jeep owners are a different breed anyway. We YJ owners are are quite comfortable with our "squareness".

With all the other mods and toys to spend your hard earned dollars on why screw around with perfectly good headlights!

I think the squares look better anyhow. They have a mean look from the front.

Probably want to do a leaf to coil conversion, too. I have a buddy down the street with a TJ. His horn is about half an octave higher in pitch than my YJ. Better do a horn conversion while your at it.

While you're at it, change the shifter to that plastic thing and add some air bags!

OK. WE have had our fun.

I've seen conversions for sale all over the place to do it.

Also, somewhere in this forum, there's a thread where someone put a CJ clip on a YJ.

I've seen YJ fendres with a cj grill on a cj7. So it would seem if really wanted to you could swap in a cj grill.

Yea...that red Jeep from North Carolina if I remember correctly. I haven't seen him on here in a while.

Thanks for your help, guys. I knew that I would take a beating. I hate to have to change the entire front end. I was hoping a CJ grill could fit in a little easier than what everyone is saying.

Umm reread this.
If he put YJ fenders on a cj useing the cj grill you can do the reverse.

Nope. The CJ grill is much longer, as in taller than the YJ grill. If you look at them side by side, you can tell they are not even close in dimension.

If you want the Jeep to look like a CJ, the best bet is to go out and buy the older, less capable Jeep and sell the YJ.

This in no way, shape, or form is me trashing a CJ. Just stating the facts.

Glad to hear you aren't bashing my teeth-jarring, tight fittin, but very cool looking CJ

One of the things that makes Jeeps so great is that they are so easily customizable. There are not many vehicles out there that have some many bumper options that will just bolt right on. Part of owning a Jeep is making it your own. Now if someone wants to customize the front of his Jeep going from square to round, who cares. It's not a big deal just another jeeper trying to make his jeep his own.

We all like to poke fun at one another and say that "mine is better than yours" but come on, give dude a break.

But we all know round is better.
