Steel Horse Hard Top. Will factory steel doors fit?

1st post, don't tear me up! I just bought my 87' YJ and it has the ever-so-great Steel Horse hard top with fiberglass upper door halfs. I like the hard top but hate the fiberglass uppers and was wondering if the factory steel doors with fit with this hard top.

Thanks, Chuck

No, it wont work. You will have to remove the channel to reinstall hard and soft tops.

Steel Horse Problems

Jeepin_Chuck

I'm New to the Jeep World.(6 months) I've been looking for information on the Steel Horse Hard Tops?? Pages and Pages of web browsing. I found your picture of your hard top here in the forum.
I bought mine on Craigslist, but I didn't find Jerry's web page untill after I bought it . (Jerry from Rally Tops) Don't buy it if all the parts aren't there!!
The hardtop is in great shape. I have the four clamps in the back, but like you, I have no way to attach it to my windsheild! I like the quick disconnects!
I don't like the idea of drilling 8 holes in my windsheild frame.
Can't find anything on them. I know I can adapt something to work, but I need to know what it's suppose to look like!
Would you mind telling me or send me a couple of pictures on how you attached yours to the winsheild frame?? Also on how it's attached to the hardtop it's self. Thats my main concern! I have two screws on the left and right side of the top, I think there suppose to be a bracket there???
Thanks Rockford

yo,Rock. look at tj stuff. they use the two hold downs. find a tj and take a look see. the hold downs should should attach to the windshield and remain with the jeep when top is removed.

My top was screwed down with a plastic strap along the windsheild frame. I thing there was 6-8 screws across the top. Got rid of my top and installed a new SuperTop. I like the softtop but I'm disapointed on how the soft upper halfs fit.

Thanks NavyChief, I've been looking at all kinds of ways to attach the hardtop.
But being new at this looked for everything on YJ's. I'll be looking into the TJ parts.
I see alot of Jeeps around here but very few Hardtops.
But I'll keep trying. Thanks Again.

Jeepin_Chuck Thank for the reply. I'm trying to put the Steel Horse on my 95 Wrangler.
My 92 Wrangler already came with the hardtop on it.
And it too has the 6 or 8 screws on the windshield.
Thanks again.
