Suspension vs. body lift

I asked this in another thread, but since I didn't get a response, thought I'd try it here.

Being new to all of this, I had a few questions about lifting. Might be a silly question, and if so, just tell me.

What are the pros and cons of body lifts vs. suspension lifts.
Is one better than the other?
Is it an owner preference type thing?
Can you combine them? (1" body lift, 2" suspension lift)
Does one affect jeep handling over the other?

Thanks.

body lift just lifts the body. suspension lift will lift the whole jeep up, and allow for more flex. Body lifts are a cheap way to lift the Jeep. However, keep to a smaller body lift 1" or so, when you go taller you have to plan for extend lines, move radiator shrouds, adj t-case brackets, etc etc. The suspension lift is more expensive, but will provide better off road flex over stock. It may also require additional items depending on how high the lift is. T-case drop or SYE kit for the t-case, extending brake lines etc etc. You can combine body and suspension if you need to. handling will be most afftected by the suspension lift.

suspension all the way... you get way more out of it then a body lift... what exactly are you planning on doing? do you just want to lift it up or what are your plans? bigger tires better off road?
