Synthetic Fluids Help

I'm changing fluids in my 89 yj and i have decided to go with the royal purple syncromax manual transmission fluid for my transmission. Now is that okay to use in my transfer case too? or will i need to get atf for that?

From what I've been reading on here, the general consensus is to use Royal Purple 10W-30 motor oil for the tranny.

I haven't done the switch yet but I plan on doing it soon.

It would probably be fine for the transfer case but Automatic transmission fluid (atf) is what it calls for and is alot cheaper.

Just as mocoyj said it says to use atf, but I don't think using RP will damage it. If you decide to go with the RP, don't worry about the cost for putting it in the transfer case; it takes a very small amount.

What is the capacity for the tranny/transfer case?

The ax 15 takes a bit more, so grab 4quarts for the tranny. I'll be doing the fluid change here soon. The atf and syncromesh mtf are suppose to show up on the 28th. I'll post a write up with pics after and put the link on here.

AX15 is about 3.5 quarts and the np231 is a little over a quart. I went with Mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 in the trans and ATF in the transfer case. Not problems since I rebuilt them both. Making the jump to Redline or Royal Purple this spring when I change both fluids.
