Tailgate bar question

So when I got my jeep it came with this pushed in tailgate and no tailgate bar for the soft top. My question is does it secure to the tailgate with screws or no? I don't have any yj's to look at in my neighborhood. Also would I benefit with buying one, would it still work with the pushed in tailgate? I'm looking to get a replacement top and will pick one up when I order the top if I should. Thanks! Happy trails🤙

It pushes into the brackets on each side of the tailgate I believe (no screws). It should work with the pushed in tailgate, because it just bridges the gap.

Yes there should be a sleeve at the bottom of the window the bar slides into.

Once installed it will slide into the channels to the left & right of the tailgate, although with your dented tailgate It probably won't seal properly.

I'll post a photo when I'm home to give you a better idea.

Tailgate bar question

IRQ, thank youyour jeep is very clean! My rear window has a rigid plastic tube running thru the bottom of the window. I believe there should be more to it judging by pics on the web. Like a rigid piece of metal?

Steve, when I saw the title of your thread I had a vision of a tailgate that was split down the middle vertically, and hinged to swing open on both sides. On each door half were mounted racks with assorted bottles of high octane beverages, and a cooler full of mixers in the tail-feathers where the back seat used to be.

Yeah, it's just startin' out as one of those days...but thanks for the tailgate/bar idea! Hahahahahaha!!!!
