The One Mod you REGRET

I have a 88 YJ and just recently put bigger tires on it. It has a 4" suspension lift but I noticed I had a clearance problem while wheeling.

So I got 1-1/4" lift boomerang shackles. Loved the look of it being 5" lifted but when I took it out wheeling I ended up with 2 bent springs.

The mod I regret - lift boomerang shackles

What's yours?

I bought "Universal Fit" Corbeau seats on sale for my 93 YJ. They sat around the garage for a couple months before I got around to installing them (I Monstalined the tub). When I started the install I found out the "Universal Fit" really wasnt.

The seats didn't work with my OEM hardware and I ended up having to order a specific bracket that still didn't function well with the OEM hardware. When the seats were installed the extreme heighth caused my legs to press against the steering wheel. I ended up removing the slides so I could sit more comfortably but the seats are now locked into one position and my wife isnt happy about it.

If I had it to do all over I would have paid the extra bucks and bought year/model specific seats.

Seems like a trend I'm in where one thing leads to another. Thanks for sharing

My first cheap lift was a Dick Cepek 4" lift. I can't believe I suffered so many years with a terrible riding jeep.
BTW, I too have the Corbeau Baja SS seats. I have a tilt wheel and like sitting higher, but the best part is my wife's legs are too short to drive the jeep so the jeep is ALL MINE.

Same problem with different model Corbeau seats, luckily I was able to return them! I really wish I could sit in replacement seats before buying; I ended up with besttop trailmax II something or other and they are fine except there's virtually no lumbar support. Going to see if a local upholstery shop can add some somehow.

Not a mod, but I regret not waiting for a YJ with hard top and full doors. I'm in PNW and the window for going topless is ~2 months, and even during that time it's iffy. The rest of the time it's flap flap flap rattle rattle rattle.

haha.... biggest mod I regret so far is removing my CB.... I had a nice one in the jeep but never thought I'd ever use it... my wife is pretty short and she couldn't drive ours because when she pulled the seat up enough close enough for her to work the pedals, the CB hit her in the knee.... I pulled it out (no one talks on them anyway anymore right?)... then I got a little deeper into the "jeep thing" and decided to go to Moab this next summer....
One of the first things they recommend for equipment?.... a CB....
$300 later and I got a new one installed.... on the passenger side this time!
