After months of trolling this awesome forum and learning all that I can as well as looking at several Wranglers of different years and models I hopefully have found " The One ". I'm not wild about the color but everything else is good. Did a VIN search and checked out her history, all is well. Have grilled the owner relentlessly via txt and email and all seems to check out. It means a little road trip but for " The One " I figure that is part of the experience. She's a 95 with the 2.5 / 5 speed with 112k. Any last words of advice from anyone?

There isn't anything wrong with the 2.5 , just don't expect a highway cruiser. The main thing is to look for a rust free non abused machine that has been somewhat maintained.
Good Luck with your find and Welcome to the forum.

I have a 2.5 and cant run bigger tires with spending tons of money... weaker engine weaker transmission... I love my jeep and I will keep it... But after reading and learning all the info at this forum I now wish I waited and purchased a I6. If your happy with spending lots of money upgrading things or running stock tires.... Then by all means purchase the 2.5.... Its up to you. Enjoy :D

All of this is very true with the exception of, even if you have the 4.0L motor, you still can't run bigger tires without spending "tons of money".
At least not properly anyway.

The 2.5L has enough power to get the job done, if geared correctly or if the correct tire size is chosen. I ran 30x9.50 on my 93 4 banger with stock gearing, and it did alright. Then I switched to 33" and 4.88 gears, and notice virtually no change to the performance of it. The AX5 is the weak link in the drivetrain, but the 2.5L doesn't produce enough horsepower to hurt it. So it works.

I had 30's on my 2.5 5 speed for the last 6 months and can barely get freeway speeds and lose 5mph on overpasses small ones constantly shifting up and down... I just went with stock size AT tires 215/75/15 on my Jeep and there 2 in smaller and the little 2.5 5 speed now drives like a normal vehicle. The Difference between Daylight and Dark. Im just going to enjoy it as it was built and designed for = quit trying to make it do something it was not designed to do. Im glad I own it my 10 year old son really enjoys it and I guess that all that counts.

Update: I guess the term " Clean , Clear title in hand " is subject to interpretation. The old girl was in decent shape and looked pretty good. She drove fine and I crawled under it and poked and prodded in all the right spots. A little rust here and there but not much and none in critical places. In short I could live with it and could see her potential. Well after driving an hr and a half to get there it turns out there was a problem with the paper work. We had corresponded back and forth and I was assured all was well, WRONG! I had even done a vin search and checked her history. The seller had the title but his name wasn't on it and it didn't have current tags and there were just several inconsistencies in his story and I didn't have the warm fuzzy's, so I walked. It really chaps my butt when people say stuff isn't a big deal. If it isn't a big deal then why haven't you done it? Rant Complete :) As far as the 2.5 part goes this jeep would just be a DD for the fun of it. If I can find a 4.0 in my price range I'll jump on it but for what I want I think the Little Jeep that Could would be fine. So the seemingly unending search continues.........Oi Veh!

Good Luck, and I've bought and sold many cars over the years and I know what you mean," if it isn't a big deal then why haven't you done it"! Because it's going to be a Big Deal, and bigger when you add a 3rd. or 4th. party.
