Thinkin about a 8.8 axle swap

I'm thinking about swapping out my 35 for a 8.8 and was wondering a few things. I'm running 33's right now and just think the rear end is a ticking time bomb. The axle was off an 85 cherokee and is complete drum to drum. Seller wants $150 for it. Comes with limited slip and the axle itself looks pretty solid. Haven't took the cover off of it but it spins smooth.

Question is might the perches used for the cherokee work for my yj? My guess would be no.

He said he's a certified welder and would do any swapping of parts I would need.

Other than the spring perches and trackbar bracket, should it be a direct bolt-in swap?

This just sounds too good to be true.

8.8 are everyplace. I have one sitting in my garage with disc brakes and 4.11's. I would look for a 1995 or newer 8,8 out of an explorer, those have the disc brakes and 31 spline shafts as well. You will have to weld on new mounts, but its not major work.

This one has 4.10s and is upgraded to 31 spline shafts, so he says. I think I'm just staying with drum brakes to keep the cost down.

I just swapped one in my 95 this weekend. Pretty easy swap.
