tire mount help

My tire mount used to hold a matching tire and wheel spare but the tire is a 33 and was to big to open the window. When I open the bag window hatch it hits the spare and I can't open it. Also I noticed my mount is cracked because it is the stock mount and is not made to hold a 33 x 12.50 tire. I just took it off after that but would like to have my spare back. Any ideas how to make a mount that would put the tire further away from the body so the window can open and is also more heavy duty? And do they sell anything like that?

Thank! Only problem is that says its for the 07 to 11. Is it the same pattern? Or would I have to find something similar to it but for a yj?

Hughbert, have you considered a swing away tire carrier?

I am confused.. the window, so we are talking a hard top right? I didn't think you could open that window unless you opened the tail gate as well? Anyway, i think tomken makes a spacer that works for the YJ. Keep in mind that the stress from the bigger tire may cause issues on the stock tail gate itself.

Yeah it is a hard top. You can't open the window with the tailgate closed. My problem is that even with my tailgate open my window still hits the tire

mine did that on the YJ... I marked the window frame with a marker and used my die grinder to cut an angle out of the aluminum. Basically, I cut the corner off where it overlaps the tailgate on the passenger side. Now it clears enough to open. Its a little tricky as you have to open the window and the tailgate at the same time but once they get open far enough it clears it now.
