To the members with lifted jeeps...

I'm hoping you can help me out. I have a 94 YJ and a small garage. Currently, without a lift kit, I have about 6 inches of clearance between the top of my jeep and the roof of the garage. My goal is to be able to lift the jeep and put bigger tires on it without sacrificing the ability to park in the garage. It currently has 26 inch tires on it, but I's like to put a 2.5 inch lift kit on it along with 31 inch tires. Does anyone out there know if that would work in my garage? Anyone out there with a 2 1/2 inch lift and 31 inch tires that can tell me exactly how tall their jeep is from floor to the top of the middle roll cage bar?

26/2=13" 31/2=15.5" so you gain around 2.5" with bigger tires plus the 2.5" springs which might make it sit higher than stock so maybe they'll lift your jeep anywhere from 2.5-3". So it could be tight, but may work

5-6" and 35's is usually the max height for most Jeeps to fit into a average garage.

You will get more than 2.5 inches more than likely because of the old yj springs sagging some.

I have 4" Rough Country springs, 3" shackle, and 3" body on 35" tires. From the garage floor to the top of the crossbar (soft top up) is 81".
I have an 81" garage opening. It squeezes in the garage, but just barely.

My cousin and I built a ranger once and we had to let the air out of the tires to get it out of his garage. Barely got it out too. We didnt plan very carefully for that one.lol

This is true. I barely clear right now! If I leave my sunrider top flipped back I cannot clear the garage door.

I have a 3in lift and 33's and I still have about 4 inches left to fit in my garage. I do have a light bar though. So i have to bend the lights back to fit in the garage as wiith any car garage I go into.

I have a small single car garage, most likely same dimensions as all the others. My jeep fits, but it is pretty tight. I hope it fits when I get a top for it. 4.5" lift and 33's. Hoping it will be okay when I go to 35's on the same lift too haha.

Coming from an old door man, what size door do you have? 9x7? New door aprox $400. Raise the header, install new door and lift the jeep to your hearts content. Door install, header and all is a short afternoon job.

I have a '91 YJ with a Rubicon Express 2 1/2" lift with 31-10.50x15's BF Goodrich AT's and mine is 75" from concrete to top of middle bar on the roll cage.

I feel your pain. My 01 Dodge Off-Road is sporting a 4" lift with 35's & won't even come close to fitting in my shop. I've got use to working on it in the driveway. Blows.

Base on just what you wrote, you should be fine. I have a '95 and recently installed a 2.5" Rubicon Express lift, 1" longer shackles, and 31" Goodyear Duratracs and I got what seems like 5 inches of total lift from the old factory stock setup. It's worth mentioning that I never did an actual measurement so I don't know the exact amount so I'm doing the eyeball measurement. Good luck.

My YJ is up about 7" total with 33" tires. With top off, it barely squeezes in. My old truck, on the other hand...poor thing never got to see the inside of any garage.. lol
...And these were only 36's at the time this was taken lol

Thanks for the help. I don't have a traditional garage so without a measurement it's hard to say what will work. My total garage height is 77 inches.

Don't worry you can always let the air out if the tires to get it out the door after the build.
