Towing the YJ

Planning a family vacation in Sept and with all the "stuff" not much room for the pup in the back seat. Other than the obvious hitch and such what would it entail to tow the YJ with my Tahoe?

It just so happens, we're loading up to leave for NY tomorrow. We'll be towing Frank's jeep behind our Tahoe on a flat bed trailer ....he had to install the trailer breaking mechinism thing in the Tahoe (it looked pretty easy, at one point he had his head in the floor, butt backwards in the seat and his legs hanging over the back of the seat )
....I'll let you know how it goes.

Earlier this year we picked up the CJ from Maryland, using a rented car dolly....no problem.

BTW: no guys we didn't buy a trailer, I just have a good friend that owns one

get a car dolly and unhook the drive shafts....... or if you cna find a tow bar type thing just use that and hook the drive shafts..... i guess you could put both the tranny and xcase in neutral, but i'd unhhok the driveshafts to be safe

Depending on the distance you plan to tow and how much you want to shell out, you can also flat-tow the YJ very easily.

Take a look and decide for yourself. http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/flattow.html

wow, that is a really nice setup. seems that would make everything alot easier to tow with it.
