transfer case???????

I have owned my 92 wrangler yj for about a year. and this is my first post!
When I try to shift the transfer case, into 2 high the 4x4 light comes on and you can hear the transfer case start to turn front drive shaft. when I pull it back to where it indicates 4 high light goes off! how ever no mater which position it is in in tight circles the tires dont bark! anyone have any ideas?

could be shifter problems, maybe needs adjusted. if not a common problem is in the vacuum system, here's some info: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/4x4-problem-16977.html

sounds like the shift linkage is out of whack. if you crawl underneath the jeep, you'll see a rod coming off the t case that attaches to the shifter linkage. there is one bolt there, if you loosen it, you should be able to get it back where it belongs.

the tires never barking in any position sounds like you might have CAD issues. theres a sticky relating to it in the YJ forum.
