I have 94yj and the transmission went out. I have been searching for a new one but nobody seems to have a transmission or the 2.5 engine for a decent price. I was wondering if a transmission from an inline 6 would bolt up? Can anyone give me any info on this?

No an AX-15 will not bolt up to a 2.5 what you need is an AX-5 for a direct bolt up.
The AX-15 CAN be adapted using a bell housing from a 2.5 Dodge Dakota, different clutch plate and pilot bearing and a different spline input shaft on the transfer case. Also you will need different driveshafts because the AX-15 is a longer transmission. All 94-95 Yjs were external slave bell housings.
AX-5 = 4 cylinder
AX-15 = 6 cylinder

I am in Wisconsin but travel to Chicago regularly. Shippensburg is not in my immediate travel plans.

I suggest you find someone in your area that has an AX5 they pulled to upgrade or due to conversion but if that doesn't work let me know. I do get to the Pittsburgh area periodically.

Ok so I bought an ax5 transmission real cheap got it home put it in and 5th gear does not grab. 1st-4th work fine but not 5th. When you shift into 5th it just clanks and revs the engine. I was told the older dodges have bolt at the end of the shaft that comes loose. I was wondering if jeeps have the same thing?

Help!!!!! I replaced my clutch kit, pilot bearing, throw out bearing, and flywheel. I put the tranny back on and installed the shifter but it still feels a little loose, even when engaged. My problem is it doesnt go into gear. The pedal (clutch) feels like its engaging and there is a slight sound difference you would expect when the clutch pedal is engaged. However there is no contact somehow of it going into gear. Any thoughts???
