I'll leave the brand suggestions to the more experienced guys. I will suggest you add a new rotor to your distributor Parts list. Might wanna do a fuel filter too just for giggles.

You'd be surprised at the difference a new rotor and distributor can make.

I use Autolite plugs standard resistor type. Dont use Bosch Platnum or double platnum I have pulled more thsn a dozen sets out of vehicles that just didnt run right and it fixed the problem.

The Team Rush mod was recommended to me on another thread, has anyone tried this? It consists mainly of a different type distributer cap, rotor, and specific type plug wires. Autolite wires are no longer recommended for that mod, so just wondering

I never had a problem using local parts store tune up parts. You might as well replace the filters (air/fuel). I try to get high quality wires also.

I hope you didn't go cheap on wires. I put MSD wires on mine and it made noticeable improvement from idle to wot. They are expensive, but the stumbling and rough idle I experienced with cheap wires was a pita.
