I am looking to put a protective coat on the bottom side of my Jeep, which would yall recomend? and also what sort of prep would be done

1987 YJ 4.2L I6 5-Speed, SOA, 1"shackle, Chrome Diff Cover Rear, Lime Green Under Parts

You want to make it look good for cheap? Pressure wash it and use some rattle cans. If you've got some time on your hands check out what I'm doing to mine.

I had my '91 professionally undercoated a decade ago at a local Ford dealership. It was about a hundred bucks and it's holding up well. You can achieve the same results with the rattle-can rubberized undercoating for much cheaper though.
There is also a product called POR15 which is absolutely dynamite if you have the time to do the job properly.
Whatever you use, be sure to degrease and pressure wash the underside before you paint.
