Water fording

They say jeeps can go in about 30 inches Of water stock. But is that true? If water is up to your grill won't it hydrolock you? Explain the process of fording please.

You hydro lock a engine when your air intake sucks in water so you can go as deep as your hood if you have the balls lol

My stock airbox is about half or 3/4 the way up the grill. So I couldn't go to the hood if I wanted to.

If you get a bow wave going great if not and you stop your done. Best to know how deep before you go in.

The water crossing process can very tricky so if you don't have to be the lead let someone else check it out.

It is also expensive to change fluids all the time because not all Jeeps have water tight gearboxes and differentials. All of which need to be changed or checked after a day of watercrossings.

I now live in the desert and have only had two water crossing which werte about 12-20 inches lucky me.
