What color Jeep do I have?

I need to order some touch up paint for my 1988 Wrangler Sahara, but I have no idea what color mine is. I looked under the driver side door, but there is no tag. The metal plate on the firewall is somewhat corroded and has been painted over so I can't read the paint code.

I hoping someone here will recognize the color. Also curious what is the best site to order paint from? Preferably aerosol so that I can blend it in the best I can.

You might be able to get it off the vin # but not sure someone will hopefully chime in that would know for sure. But I say brown LOL

I tried searching by the VIN to no avail. Someone might know of a website, but all the ones I tried don't list the paint color.

I am pretty sure my color is "Khaki metallic", but there are at least 2-3 different paint codes. My best bet might be ordering a few samples to see which one matches best.

Found it, thank you! It is BL/HJ5 "Khaki", confirmed by the firewall tag

88-91 saharas were HJ5 Khaki.
You can usually go to an automotive paint supply house and give them your paint code and they will mix up a rattle can of the exact color for you. Usually $20 or so.

According to my firewall tag mine is paint color "BL", but I believe that's the same paint code as "HJ5".

Interestingly enough I contacted Chrysler to see if they can dig up some info and they came back with "PJ5" Kakhi Metallic paint.

My paint is definitely metallic, and I haven't been able to find a definitive answer if "BL/HJ5" is a metallic paint, if it is, that's the one. No idea where Chrysler came up "PJ5" - I dont even think that color was offered in 1988...

It's all the same regardless, what's important is the PPG & Dupont paint codes, this what the BL/HJ5 will convert too at the auto body supply.

Good paint is expensive, PPG is usually a little less than DuPont... I have gone through those huge paint books at the body shop in some cases the finish coat is only available in DuPont.

As an example the interior dash vinyl paint is available with both major brands but the final luster sheen is only available in DuPont.

Khaki Metallic. You can double check it here. Choose Your Paint Color | PaintScratch.com
