I'm a super newbie that just bought a 1995 YJ 4 Banger - it's got 113,000 miles on it.. great body condition.. but since I dont know much about it, I'm kinda wondering on what yall's take on it?
I noticed that it aint got that much power - For that being said, I'm wondering if I should do a motor swap to V6? or if there's a cheaper way to gain more power?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated! =)
Everyone in Oregon drives really slow anyway, so you'll be just fine.
You know those short passing lanes on the way to the coast? How they're always on the uphillslope? You won't be able to pass people like you might want to. But you'll have a lot more fun once you get there.
The cheapest way to get more power? Sell it. Buy something else. There are no plug-ins or bolt-ons that will make a significant difference in a '95 4 cylinder engine.
call zak at 505 performance thats bull there are lots of things you can do get more power out of it for way less than a motor swap, turbos, head work ect.
It is a very nice looking Jeep. I say keep it and go for re-gearing. There are several articals about hop ups vs. re-gear and the re-gear always wins. Properly geared, you will be able to keep up with traffic better. But be aware that a Jeep will never really be a fast vehicle. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
Thanks for all the advice fellas! =)
Once again, I'm just playing with my options.. =)
Thank you for all the compliments also - I really appreciate that. =)
I got 2 of those. I swapped the 4 bangers to a 6 4l in one of them and kept the other one original ( to pass annual inspection here in Taiwan as we are not allowed to swap engines ).
The 4 bangers is good enough for the road but, as soon as you leave the road.... hmmm you might want more power.
