Today was the first day I got to work on my new (to me) YJ!
I changed all my fluids going back with fluids recommended by everyone here.
I buffed and waxed.
8 hours later I took the old crapped out full soft top and a some thread fashioned it into a bikini top of sorts.
Then I took some of the left over webbing and some old bicycle grips and other misc parts and made some roll bars handles.
Installed a radio and new speakers into some holes PREVIOUSLY cut into to my door panels and made some quick disconnects out of some trailer light 2 pin pigtails so I can still remove the doors. Sounds like they are in coffee can but whatever I had to cover the holes in the doors.
finally I discovered other problems not previously known to me but that's a whole post of its own lol

Excellent wax job! Now, I'm sure it's a common practice, but you should get some foam and attach it to the roll bar... I've hit my head so many times on roll bars it's not funny.

Replaced both the side marker light socket and the front turn signal socket. All turn signal issues are solved...for now. Got both sockets from the local parts store.

I dropped my transmission pan, changed the gasket and filter. Then tapped a new hole where a previous bolt was stripped. Then filled up my transmission fluid. After that (with the help of this forum and great people) I fixed my starting problem by replacing my fuel pump. And now my 88' starts up! Waahoo!

It was just one of the bolts no my pan. One of them was stripped. So I used a tap and die set to make new threads and put a bigger bolt in.

Put my Differential back together. Went to hook up the shaft and realized they gave me the wrong universal. Really starting to hate Advanced Auto.

Bolted down a big locking toolbox and cut out my old muffler with a hole in it. Didn't install the new one yet.

Honestly it took around two hours. Took my time and triple checked everything! Hardest part was getting the carrier out

Today I got smittbily neoprene seat covers. Back one was easy as cake to install and looks awesome. Front ones were for a different model seat. Crap. Ordered another set and sent those back. Also got rear floor mats but they fit like crap too. Anyone know of a good form fitting rear floor mat for a YJ?

I gotta get me one of those for my seats as well...I bought me these:

from RuggedRidge and for some strange reason within a few weeks of owning it, it starting to turn brown..almost as if it was dyed or something?

I've already contacted them, just waiting for a response.

I strongly suggest anyone with neoprene seat covers to invest in some 303 brand UV protectant. Works great, I use it on my boat seats. So...anyway, what i did for my Jeep tonight...replaced the factory tape player that was not working with an exact same original one that is in PERFECT shape. Got it off ebay for $12 shipped!! I am a stickler for keeping things like head units stock. Tomorrow's goal is replacing the faded/cracked front parking lights with OEM repros that look sharp!

Is that a YJ? If so, what's the name of that center console? My YJ needs one, badly.

What I did today:

PO installed a crate motor, and when he went to change over the valve covers, didn't install new valve covers and left the OEM cork ones.

I had to take that off, but by then all the rubber melted to the valve cover. Took me forever. Also cleaned the inside of the valve cover, and installed a nice Fel-Pro gasket cover. (Set me back $40 and change, but worth it, IMO).

Oil change/Filter & New Spark Plugs.

Installed a new light for the speedometer.

I bought the best top trail max pro console and I love it it's got great compartments for stuff and a handy light inside and a power outlet. that's the best and most modern I've seen for a YJ oh and it's all plastic so it doesn't rust a few years later
