in other news i almost flipped my yj today, some dumb bimbo slammed her brakes while we were passing an accident on the highway, i mean it was a bad accident and we had slowed down to 40-50ish(in left lane while accident was all the way in the shoulder of 4th lane) but i guess she wanted to be one of the dumbasses that cause an accident by wanting to see an accident. if i wasn't an amateur drifter i dont think i could have swerved out of the way and kept it from flipping. thank god i didnt take off my sway bars either(was debating on it) and now i will not. disconnects for sure though.

Today I found the correct color touch up paint (previous owner pulled the first red he saw, and it wasnt close.) filled all the little chips, scratches, etc.

Removed all the pin striping that had probably been on it since 1995. Luckily my brother in law owns an auto detail shop so he had the remover and plastic razor blades.

Ordered all new roll bar covers.

Cleaned and conditioned the soft top.

Pulled the spare tire holder, 3rd brake light and spare tire bump stop, sanded, prepped and painted them with spray on bed liner.

Pulled the mesh light covers sanded and painted them with spray on bedliner.

Prepped and painted the spare tire with spray on bedliner.

Tomorrow:

Pick up and install new roll bar covers.

Full tune up.

Thursday:

Brother in law is going to color sand the Jeep and then buff it to a super duper pretty shine...

You're addicted LT just admit it. At least when the addiction is bad enough you will have one badass jeep and make a guest appearance on Dr. Phil. Love the updates, there is agreat Utube video for the SYE follow it closely and it will be painless. Key to success i great snap ring pliers.

Looks good! How is the leg room? I've really been wanting to do this. Did you go to the frame or floor

I have the tubing sitting on some 1/2 steel tabs. Haven't decided what to do about going the the frame or not.

Just bought my first jeep about a week ago! Throughout the week I've taken all the interior out, bed lined the inside, replaced the alternator/belt, new gas tank and replacing wheel cylinders tomorrow... been a busy week!

Dear God, after taking three hours and nearly taking the Jeep apart to install the roll bar padding today I was in no mood to take pictures. Having to take down the windshield in order to install roll bar padding is just a bit insane in my opinion...
Apparently the windshield had never been taken down and the front side roll bar pieces had never been removed or loosened. It took two people and a two foot breaker bar to get the damn torx bolts out.
Tomorrow we will finish getting it detailed and then we are taking it for a drive to the beach to play in the sand. I will take some pictures there.

Here you go...
Last picture is of the offending bolt which must be removed (and the windshield tilted down) to install these damned roll bar covers...

[QUOTE=jerseYJ;2806680] what kind of bikes are you into? ive only had cbr's and r1's but after graduation im going to step up to a big boy nightrod murdered the fcuk out![QUOTE]

I am into anything with two wheels. Mostly choppers. Currently working on an old Iron Head. Welded in a ridgid back half 200 tire with a 3" stretch, springer front, Indial larry dish tank. Painting up Blue and Gold for a tribute to my old high school/son's foot ball team. They are the Chiefland Indians, calling the bike "Chief Ironhead". The kids are all excited, hope to finish it soon also. Also built a Suzuki VL800, was the first bike I ever owned. Other than that, did some Harley rebuilds/customs, as well as some ground up Chops. Built a Toys for Tots Chopper that we raffled off for the cause, turned out pretty cool. We have a few bikes in small magazines, "Dixie Rider" "Born to Ride" and I think comming soon Iron Horse is wanting to do a shoot. The last couple of ground ups we did have been in a few shows. Won the bobber class with one at the Rats Hole in Daytona during bike week, as well as several other smaller shows. You can google Gulf Coast Sledz and see some of our stuff. I just love to build and create.

Where did you get the parts for this? And is this "cold air" mod better than the stock box?

Stripped the interior door skins, prepped, sanded, prepped, cleaned, prepped and painted today.
Tomorrow the dash comes out... That should be loads of fun.
Pictures after my hands heal a little...

parts can be easily had at any auto parts store or ebay. this would be considered a wai(warm air intake) or short ram. not a true cold air(but on a jeep a true cold air would be pointless and asking to get hydrolocked) the location of the filter pictured will make the throttle response a tad quicker and louder. but most will say sitting in the bay just like that is just sucking in warm air. the stock box on the yj's is actually designed very well as long as you take restrictor(s) out and replace with a high flow air filter. imo this intake set up is ok since its cheap and easy but i would not do it since its asking for water.

I have also seen those K&N filters stuffed into paint cans with a clip on lid. You can use it for a filter enclosure for a snorkel, but all exposed like that would make me nervous. I know under my hood is always soaked, and where I got stuck a couple of weeks ago that would have sucked in water where my stock box didn't. I plan on using the same style filter myself though when I install a snorkel.

New...Old Seats

Ripped out old YJ seats that were rusting away and put in 97 Chev Calvi 2 door seats. They fit great, but the shifter hits a little when in second gear. That is only beacause I am short.
