Replaced my valve cover because older one was cracked. Then changed spark plugs. Getting new wires tomorrow.

Changed my oil. Realized my next purchase has to be new shocks, so once this fridays paycheck gets deposited, Im ordering em. Thinking about going with a set of rough country but cant decide between the 8000 and the 9000. Im keeping it stock height, dont want a lift. Suggestions?

I still have OEM shocks which I am sure are the ones that came on the jeep. any reason you wouldnt go with OE replacement while keeping stock height?

Agreed. Should just get stock shocks for stock ride.

Im going to do some searching and research and look into an OEM set. I know my wrangler is suppose to be bouncy and the opposite of luxury, but when compared to my dads YJ, who has OEM shocks (im guessing in better shape than the ones on my YJ) mine is a wild horse.

Any suggestions on where I could find an OEM set of Shocks for my yj?

Hello guys, I have a question (Ive researched but I want a direct answer to my question)
I have a 90 4.2 5spd YJ and my vacuum lines are missing haha, what I want to do is: put a spring/spacer inside where the fork is infront of the differential to engage the front wheels, my question is if by doing this, will I be driving on 2 wheels daily and when I engage the 4h or 4L will the 4x4 engage and work properly? Or will I be on a 4wd daily, cause if so It doesnt work out for me.

Thanks Guys

Thatks for the answer and help, just have another concern, this wont damage my transmission/tcase/front differential? I just had my trans rebuilt and it came out somewhat expensive , not really knowledgeable with 4x4 and thats why I want to be extra careful

Thank You

If you don't use a cable disconnect your front diff will always be engaged. You will get lower gas mileage because of that as well as unnecessary wear and tear. There will be no power going to your front, but since your driveshaft will always be turning when you move, the chain in you TC will be spinning like crazy. I am not saying it will cause failures, but def will be wear. Just get the cable disconnect and use that. Jeep didn't go through the trouble of making the front axle disconnect for nothing.

tjs have no cad or manual hubs, and the same transfer case and they don't have problems, the unit bearings are non interference so they don't really decrease fuel economy much. jeep engineers did a q&a session on jeepforum a while back and they said when they switched to the tj there was a negligible loss of fuel economy with no axle disconnect

What most people dont think about when they full time the cad is the old wore out front ds u joints.... Lock it in and you are asking for failure on a street driven rig if you dont pay attention to what all is moving all the time now and much faster than it used to be... Ive seen it happen the day a friend bought his xj... Trailored and trail only for the old owner and never saw any high speed use.... My friend didnt last 20 miles at highway speed headin home after the purchase and when the tcase side u joint came apart the ds punched softball sized holes in the floor and tcase by the time he got it stopped

Yeah, if it made no difference everyone would just open them up and lock it engaged with some washers instead of paying the $100+ and an hour to install the cable disconnect. One of my biggest things would actually be the chain spinning in there like crazy at highway speeds. Even though it is not engaged, if the driveshaft is turning that chain is spinning away. If your going 70mph+ that is a lot of wear and tear. Here is a writeup as well. If mine craps out on me I will be doing a solid swap though. Mine is 50/50 dd and trail rig so I am not worried about gas milage and expect to work on it regularly repairing what I break.

Rained 2 inches today, and all of it was in my floor board again. I've changed cowl seals, siliconed the hinge bolts, checked the vent drain. Where in the world is the leak???

Changed the Oil/filter, it was time. Changed the AX15 oil, it was nasty. Changed the NP231 oil, it was ok.

It's like driving a new jeep. Nice and smooth, no grinding, no buzzing, just smooth driving. well for a jeep anyway.
