Working on the cooling system. I have stripped the front end down, removed the old water pump, thermostat housing and all the brackets. The brackets have been cleaned up, sanded, and painted. I have all the parts to rebuild except the by pass tube between the water pump and heater hose. Tonight I'll be cleaning the radiator shroud and air filter box. I just installed the new power steering pump last week. As part of the work I'm doing I am seriously considering a tank heater for weather like we have been having. Anyone have any experience with them? After the cooling system is refurbed, I'll be working on the A/C system.

Ok guys Ive researched alot now and I got kinda tired reading off many posts, hopefully you guys can help ne out

I have a 1990 4.2 5spd YJ with a Motorcraft 2100, thats how I bought it a year ago.

Today I bought some tubes to connect them from the transfer switch to vacuum actuator and manifold, I based my connections on some diagrams, I replaced the transfer vacuum switch and cleaned the actuator and fork...
I dont know where to connect the red vacuum line which goes to the manifold, the carb is different than the other carbs that Ive seen on pics. So I need help with this.
Also my green and yellow lines that I have connected to the actuator dont have any vacuum when I check them on 2wd and 4wd L or H.... I suppose my actuator and fork are just fine...

Like I said my lines were broken off and I never knew how they were suppose to be connected and I really WANT to fix the vacuum, I dont want the posi lock thing..

Thanks for all Help, and PICTURES OF ALL CONNECTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Made my switch panel which took way longer than it should have. Didn't get much done. It was too windy out, couldnt even open the hood.

Removed my rear U-Joints using the socket and hammer method. 22 years worth or grime and time made the removal a tricky process. Cleaned the yokes and bought a pair of Precision joints (only one felt worn but at less than $20/ea, replacing both seemed the smart thing to do). Reinstalling was trickier for me so I took the shaft and yoke to a mech just down the street and he set them for me -- no charge! Zerked and hooked back up with new straps... my YJ feels like a new ride -- really! No more shudder or vibration during acceleration, very smooth feel. I'd attach pics but you guys have seen it all before.

Cheers!

Big weekend for me and my old Jeep. Talked to a local Jeeper who wants my soft top for his hard top. Went and checked his out today and we agreed to trade straight up. My soft top and doors for his hard top and full doors.

After admiring his ride, and the work hes put into It. I mentioned that I love the simplicity of his CJ dash. He told me his friend will make me one and put it in my jeep in exchange for 60$ and my YJ dash. He also said he'd throw in some windshield mounts for fog lights that he had laying around in his garage. Super nice dude. Is say it was a Craigslist success story.

Also finally got my Luk clutch kit in the mail today, so I'm going to tackle that project on Saturday. It's been about 10 days since I've driven my jeep and its killing me.

We've had rain solid for three days. TONS of mud that's calling my name. Can't wait.

looks like he just drilled out the stock(base model one without any holes). well it has holes but the factory puts a black sticker on it. i would recommend gluing something to the likeness of a big credit card onto your panel, drilling as needed and painting it to match your interior (thats what i did on my base model to put all my light controls)

Wen I bought it the guy butchered whatever was there mounting a single switch. I dremeled it out and glued a piece of aluminum on. Painted it black and drilled holes for new switches.

Ah gotcha! i figured you put something on the face looks good, almost like bedliner with the texture it has. i might have to steal your idea. i like the switch choice too. i have a bigger rocker setup and only got 3 switches on the panel.

Thanks. Yeah looking back I wish it was plastic and not aluminum. It was hard to drill so my switches aren't straight. The bit walked a little when drilling. Almost fit 1 more in the middle. I ordered a 5 pack of those rockers with green LEDs off eBay for like $8 shipped.

Found and fixed my leak!! The screws for the channel for the soft top were letting water drain into the windshield frame. When enough got in it spilled through the wiper motor opening and poured out over the speakers on both sides. Took the screws out, siliconed under the channel and reinstalled.

Replaced my clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder... WOW that was a project. Took right around 7 hours. But doing it myself was much more gratifying than paying $700 for the shop to do it.

I bought the Luk clutch kit online for $100.16 free shipping. Did it myself. Had a buddy help me. I bought him a bottle of single barrel Jack Daniels. So I got her done for about $160.
