Finally hit some very mild terrain behind some factories at like 2am. I've had it since August but wasn't too enthused just driving it on pavement (and lacking in snow this year). But last night totally redeemed it playing around. I was impressed with how it handled icy/muddy mild slopes and slick train tracks even with its crappy pep boys tires.

I think I would like to get that 2.5" lift to keep the 31's from rubbing as well as replace the clutch and rebuild the trans.

The tub needs to be lined or insulated because the heater works (2.5 takes forever to warm up) but it still is chilly.

All mounted up, just gotta wire them tomorrow. Doesn't hurt that it came with a plug and play harness with relays and inline fuses!

Got my spare tire, wheel and cover yesterday!
Attachment 205846
Turns out they don't make my wheel with the same backspacing anymore... When I got mine somewhere around 8 or 9 years ago my backspacing was 3 and 5/8inches. Now they don't go lower than 4.

Also, they don't make the "Baja Claw" tires the same as they used to... Haha!

And... Finally snagged a picture of the spare tire carrier in the box. I need to have a "Mod Day" here soon to get all this new stuff installed.

Got my Buick moved enough to fit my YJ into my Dads garage so I can start getting my replacement parts and carrier on.

Attachment 206134

While I was over there I took some pictures...
They changed up the design of the MT Baja Claws... Makes sense though... Been probably 9 years since I bought mine.

Attachment 206135
Attachment 206136

Also... My hitch stuff for my YJ and my J-truck. The one for the J-truck is solid steel and weighs about 15lbs. Haha! discovers my "Jeep" hitch cover doesn't fit into my hitch though. The corners aren't rounded enough or something...

Attachment 206137

...
Once again - don't want to start a new thread for this... What would cause black soot to come out the tailpipe like this?

Attachment 206138

I've noticed it before and decided to do a full tuneup while I was in the garage. There's never been any black smoke or anything unusual about the exhaust smoke that I've noticed.... I pulled her out and retuned the carb. I've currently (and at the time of the picture) got the screws set at 1 and a quarter turn out. I adjusted them in more, but at about 1turn out it started to stumble real bad, so I turned 'em back out a quarter. But the soot is still coming out. Otherwise she runs well other than a potential (not entirely sure on it) exhaust tap and the occasional popping through the exhaust. Kind of like a backfire- but isn't any louder than the normal volume of it idling.

Finally - Any recommended replacements for the oil cap gasket? It's looking a little cracked and it's allowing a little oil to escape...

Disconnected the Battery, added fuel stabilizer and put a cover on her. She'll be sitting for the next 30 days while I'm working on a tug boat in the Caribbean. Living on the water I didn't want the salt air and birds to have a field day. Drinking my last beer for a month
