Or you could re-gear both diffs and do the same thing, just saying. There is a chart somewhere that will tell you what ratio to go to.

I only have a 4 banger so I wasn't sure if I could help the weight some too. I will look into gearing as well. Thanks

you cut off both ends ? then what ? you have a bolt staft stuck in a bushing. At least before you had something pound on to drive it out the other side ... or am I missing a key point here ??
I had to cut the bolt between the spring and the hanger bracket on both ends. It sucked and i went through allot of saw zaw blades. Took my time and made sure nothing else got cut.

thanks, and yea that grill is a $10 home depot job and after i took this picture i resprayed where i had chipped the paint off during the install. best of luck.

thats what it looks like clean, i also put that metal bar as reinforcement in the center to keep the mesh tight.

Family bars go from windshield to tail gate with pillars behind front seats and sport bars go at an angle from the top of the jeep to the tailgate area but are lower

Family style roll bar:

Sport style roll bar:

The Family style was included from 1991 to present day, the Sport style was included from 1987-1990. It is an adaptation from the original roll bar style included with the CJ models, with the addition of the forward support (connects the windshield to the roll bar hoop in the middle). Some people like the Sport bar, some prefer the Family style. There is more aftermarket soft top and product support for the Family style bar, so it is a bit more desirable and a popular swap for us 1987-1990 guys.

Quick question: what are some ideal storage ways some people like to store hard tops when taken off the rig?

I wouldn't regear that unless you got something special. It would be a lot cheaper to buy one off a 4 Banger and sell yours for the same price. Then its free and already broken in

Is that a lock for your hood? Did you pull that grill to do that? And do you have any pics of the back of it? Looks nice.

yes this is a hood lock, $18 shipped on ebay. given its not the hardest thing to bypass but itll keep the honest people honest. if i didnt have the mesh installed, the install is easy since it slips right in between the slots, but because i had the mesh and didnt want to move the radiator to the side or remove the grill, i reached from underneath and threaded the bolts in from the top. i guess i have long arms but it was a difficult balancing act. overall install took about 10 minutes with adjustments. sorry i dont have any pics from the back, but there are no clearance issues and it doesn't take up any extra space. its a quite simple mechanism and for the price i suggest everyone rock one of these.

What did you use to bond it? Weld? Glue? Did you have to take the grille off?

theres a write up some here, basically i bought a 100 pack of little black zip tie mount squares and superglued them behind the grill. then i ziptied the mesh from behind, hidden behind the slots. and yes you definatly have to take the grill out
