Was left stranded after work. Battery was unchargeable, completely done. Had to buy a new one -.- $130 I could have used on something else.

Check your alternator output too. Should be 14 volts.

Added my new bumper. Just have spare tire issue.
My 33x12.5x15 doesn't fit by like 1.5 inches. Going to by an extender but want to know if there are any heavy duty tailgate hinges to help support the tire.

Is it the top tube that's in the way??

I did the front speaker upgrade on my 95 Wrangler today. I got the 4x6 kicker speakers. It wasn't as tough as I thought it was going to be to replace them, it was plug in play. You don't have to drop the windshield or remove the dash either.

Yep, going to buy an extender to lift the tire but would like to get better hinges. Buying a 350 bumper&tire carrier is not in the budget.

Why not just cut back the extra tube and make it fit?

Isn't a 33" WAY too big to be putting on the stock carrier? I've always been under the impression that one shouldn't put anything much bigger/heavier than a stock tire on there or more than likely you're going to be breaking welds on your carrier or tailgate. I've also read about people having trouble with their hinges bending... They need more support. I know a guy with a 2012 JK that's running 35's and he had to put a spacer on his stock tire carrier to get the spare to fit on the carrier and two trail runs later (only a few weeks) he had all sorts of broken welds and rattling going on. Granted, they're 35s and it's a JK - so OBVIOUSLY not the same quality we're used to with YJs ( )... But there's an actual, second hand, example for ya...

I'm probably wrong, and someone somewhere is doing it without problems and will probably come correct me... But to me - why half-@$$ a job and cause yourself more problems down the line when you can put the job off until you can do it properly? If it was MY Jeep - I'd go without a spare until I got a proper carrier. Oh, wait, I DID do that...

Nice bumper, by the way, Nikondsindent. I have the same one! I also have 33's. I bought this carrier for mine - you get to keep your bumper: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12203_0103_07.htm

Very easy install and the carrier is STRONG! I sat in top of my tire with it on the carrier and bounced a little - NO MOVEMENT. I know you said you didn't have the $350 for a new bumper/carrier combo - but I think in the end it'd be worth it. Meh... Just my opinion.

That's why I'm looking for a heavy duty hinge set. I just bought the bumper and had no clue that it wasn't going to fit the tire. So I'm going to have to wait on a bumper/carrier till the jeep expo in June to get a combo bumper for a decent price.

For that stand alone carrier cost as much as a whole combo

it's not so much the hinges but all the sheet metal that is overstressed by oversized tires. The PO of my yj had a 33 on it, and it did so much damage. It almost ripped the entire rear quarter off the body, and it did tear a large section of steel off the wheel housing. Just get a bumper tire carrier.

Sounds good thanks. Really wish I would have invested more time finding out about the size my jeep could handle. Now I'm stuck with this bumper till I can sell it and find a bumper carrier for a good price. Right now my money is tied up in a carb rebuild and evap fix.

Don't really have time for it. Was bored on that weekend. It was really easy. Run to tractor supply, grab some 1/2" steel rod, two 1 3/4" spacers from the implement pin section along with two 1/2" spacers, and two locking pins.

Cut the 1/2" rod to the same length as your current sway par links, Cut the 1 3/4" in half to be used as the tops and botoms.

Slide the 1/2" spacers on the rod, mark and drill for the pin. Slide the spacer away and cut the rod. Put the spacer back over the hole and insert the pin. Buz the top of the spacer with the pin in place to hold everything in line.

Then buz on the tops and botoms. Paint, install bushings, and bam!

I installed my new 1" over stock bump stops from Quadrateck to day. Now perhaps my fenders will relax and not be as nervous....lol

Then ordered my new 8.8 rear from East Coast Gear Supply... Can't wait!

I had to have it towed because of linkage issues with my tranny. I thought it was gonna be a lot worse than It was. It was just a tiny clamp that snapped off unhooking my shifter from the rod that connects it to the transmission. crawled under and put two new clamps on there and good to go. Free tow thanks to AARP so in total cost me about $4 and plenty of panic.
