Took her out to an empty field with some pretty intense hills (for Iowa) last evening/night! I wasn't "tearing it up" or anything... I try to be as respectful of their land as I can. Just wanted some genuine "off roading" and to play in the snow.

I was hoping to find somewhere to get a good picture of her flexing or at least some cool scenery - but didn't manage to find anywhere good for either before it got dark...

If my buddy doesn't work again today, I may try and head back out or to another small spot that I think could be fun.

X'2 I just did a write up on this as well. I have no problems since installing mine a few weeks ago and have beat the crap out of it. It did clang around at first, but that is to be expected.

Just got back from picking up my new plates and playing in the snow on a service road!

No one had been on the road at least since the last snow storm - which was about a day or two of constant snowfall.... So there were some pretty big drifts and A LOT of deep snow. Never actually saw the road. The biggest drift she crawled through was taller than her tires. Was going to get a picture - but when i went to jump out I decided I'd rather not be past my knees in snow.

... There was a spot where the road was below the land next to it so I climbed her front wheel up there for a little flex... Didn't disconnect - so she can definitely go farther.

This is my baby's first flex shot! ... Not first time flex - but first time I've gotten a picture of it.

I am waiting on my vanity plates still. I had to pick three options that were available and then see which one they send. I got H8S PVMT, OFFRO4D, and 1TUF YJ. I cant wait to see which one I get.

Looks cool, but a waste of money. Every time I ever really cared (in hindsight) what the angle was, I was too busy keeping it upright to chance a glance at the inclinometer. I know there have been times mine was pegged out but momentum kept me going. Never rolled.... yet!

Got a new windshield frame and windshield with all of the seals today. Hoping that it fixes my leak issue for good. It didnt come with installation instructions so i was wondering if there were any tips that would help me out. I have a good idea of how it all fits together but i am looking for experienced advice.

Are you sure you removed both thrust washers on the sides? You also did measure the gap to make sure it was within spec? I know that might be a stupid question to some, but the washers can actually stick to the inside of the carrier and be hard to tell they are even there. You should have pulled 4. Otherwise I would say you are getting a different noise from the one side having a disconnect but not the other. Mine actually is noisier on left turns now, but way less often since I broke it in and only if the wheel is turned all of the way. I also have a solid axle which makes it harder to compare my results with yours.

Yeah the end of the cable, the terminal, was cracked wasn't staying tight on the battery post. So I cut both ends off and put new ends on.

they told me to use the trust washers because the gap in the center was about .015 to out of spec

Well it probably isnt a coincidence that you have a Spartan installed with thrust washers and just happen to be having problems. I would bet something else was overlooked somehow that threw it out of spec. If you were .015 out of spec you probably need a new caliper to measure it with. Even then the thrust washer is not going to correctly add enough to make it fall into the sweet spot like it should where it works properly. Hard to say without seeing it myself, not that I am an expert, but I know 100% that you are not supposed to use them with a Spartan Locker.

i dont think transmission fluid is supposed to look like a shamrock shake...

cleaned it up and put Pennzoil synchromesh in it, also changed transfer case fluid, changed oil and replaced my slave. runs and shifts alot smoother now.

yeah definitely doing another drain and refill soon, cheap insurance against transmission failure esp. with one with only 70k miles on it

I replaced my bent transfer case mainshaft in the 95YJ with stock one out of my 05 TJ and the tail housing from a 99 wrangler. I trimmed 1" off of the mainshaft splines and about 3/4" off of the YJ slip yoke BOTH SUUUUCK to cut). Also found one transmission mount bolt to be missing and the other was nearly out (at the t-case side). Although I still have a bit of driveline vibration going on, I can now accelerate to 75mph without fear of total destruction. The best part of this is that I got rid of the crappy old long tail cone and the t-case now holds fluid without puking it out.

Swapped front shocks. Rears will be next weekend. Didn't have to jack up the yj or remove tires or anything to do it. Probably the simplest thing I've done to this point.
