When I got my 88 YJ it came with the hard top. However there are no screws/bolts holding the hard top to the windshield frame so you can image while wheeling and simple driving with pot holes it gets pretty loud while moving up and down. Any idea where I can get those screws or how everything goes together up there? I wanna quiet it up

Sheet metal screws. I suggest stainless ones.

Yeah relatively easy. Fronts were a bit tricky but I was able to do them easy once I went to buy a ratcheting wrench. Rear were a pain due to positioning and how tough the bolts were to remove. But I did it without jacking up the jeep or removing any tires.

You guys are doin some KILLER work, I'm just tryin' keep up, missed a couple days and this thread added 3 pages..!

ZOMBIECHIEF..great work on the bumper/frame repair..!

...and The Ammo cans on the tire carrier are genius ("killer" zombie tire cover)..!

...the 6" seat lift/storage locker was an awesome idea as well..!

...the tires on the black Jeep (before and after pics) look MUCH better. I totally dig new tires, even if they're not put on yet, I start to get amped to tear 'em up..!

Sorry guys I couldn't remember which mods were done by who, but they are great..!

AND NOW I'M STARVIN..!

I got a bad a$$ for a yj!

So I finally took my baby to the shop to get a few modifications done. Paint was scratched up ( too meny close calls with foliage ) dents and dings ect ... All was a badge of honor but also I wanted a cool looking jeep without sacrificing the cash for a new ride.
Wanted to have it painted in bedliner but was scared about how it would look. I've seen a lot of poorly done rino liner jobs, same for " DIY" Jobs
So I took it to TCR Customs this past week in Sanford NC
They did an Awesome job!
They painted the inside, hood scoop, grill, frame and running boards in black bedliner. Then they painted the rest of the body in bright red bedliner.
I cannot express how good it looks as soon as I can I'll be postin pics

Thanks sp33d!

It was a LONG day yesterday, but I got a new master and slave cylinder put in, changed fluids in both axles and transmission. I don't have a 30mm socket yet or I would have changed the xfer case fluid too. I also got the shock mount welded back on. When I drained the transmission the oil in it literally had the consistency of pancake batter! Wondering what to do, I used the auto trans fluid to break up some of the sludge. I put it in and let my jeep idle around the block in second gear to work it thru all the gears. After that I used engine block flush and 2.5 qts of 10W30 and went back around the block again working all the gears. Another flush of just 10W30 and another trip around the block. Finally that came out (mostly) clean so I put in the final fluid change. She's going in and out of gears MUCH easier than before! Today, she gets a bath (parked in the front yard for the rain) and I get to pack for my vacation that starts tomorrow! 8)

As far as outboarding the shocks, that's a little more than I had time to do so I just welded the bracket back in place for now...

Are you running the track bars on yours? I took mine off and it help out alot with more Articulation. Now the shocks don't seem to bind up as much. I haven't taking it on the freeway yet, but at 55 its still pretty Stable.

Where can I pick some of those at? I read about swapping ford 19lb injectors. Is that the same thing as sound stang injectors?

I'm pretty sure that's a total noob question ha

Not yet. My winch just got delivered today. Going to install this weekend as well as paint the front bumper. (so the winch plate doesn't look off with the faded bumper)

Im currently saving for a lift/tires/wheels. That will be a ways down the road.
Thinking about doing the electric fan mod next. Any opinions about what I should do next?

Hey jono, I actually was asking for my personal knowledge, what should I do next kind of a thing...
It sounds like you've got it handled well though..!
The electric fan is a great Idea. I have a separate switch currently mounted up on the dash for mine.
The guy that sold it to me had done some great work, SOA conversion, and some other cool stuff, It was a serious trail runner for him.
I'm actually doing an AMC 360 swap over the summer, with some 44 axles, and going to drop it back down and throw a link suspension under it.
Let me know if your going to need any extra parts for your drive train, mine will be coming out in just a couple weeks.
4cyl., 5spd., and the axles (they are S.O.A.) as well.

Thanks for the compliments man (I have the black jeep with the before and after pics)! I did a lot of other work to it this winter and now that it's done I cannot wait for the snow to melt so I can get it covered in mud and post pics!!!

I love this thread and checking in on it every day. It's awesome to see what everyone else is doing and some of the cool ideas people come up with! Gotta love it!
