What are you guys going to go with? I'm thinking I need a YJ buddy too, lol. Shoot, I could not even find 2 inch shackles. Finaly went with 4 inch RC and stock shackles. Had to replace tie rod ends and ball joints for the lower control arm. Still a little squirly and think I just may have to take it is for a pro alienment? Wonders when I drive. Got it toed in about 16th of an inch.. will see if they can figure it out?

Busy few days-

Tore out old stereo & wiring.
Broke heater in the process.
Found broken heater switch wire, fixed it.
Noticed taped-up broken heater control switch.
Added heater control to the list of things to replace.

Replaced courtesy lamp switch.
Installed LED 3rd brake light bulbs.
Replaced both front side marker lenses.
Wrapped steering wheel with a leather cover. Nice.
Installed weatherstrip clips on the windshield & hard top side windows.
Fixed a bulls-eye in the windshield.
Replaced wipers.
Adjusted tailgate latch.
Installed hood lock.
Removed spare tire mounted ski rack.
Ditched chrome grille overlay.
Installed & wired up new front fog lights on new Crown bumper.
Removed original center console.
Tune up & air filter.
New wheel locks.
Passenger roll bar grab handles.
Tinted hard top windows.

Today after work-
6 new speakers, 1 amp, new Alpine deck and Smittybilt 16-gauge locking center console.

Soon as they get here-
New front seatbelts.
New cowl weatherstrip.
New front door panels, inside door handles & pulls.
Non-chrome headlight bezels.

All that in one week and I'm sure I forgot some stuff I did.

WOW, that must have kept you busy for a few huh? Sounds like you are really restoring your Jeep, please post some pics when your complete.

Me, I just ordered a pair of Bestop Trailmax II seats and Rugged Ridge seat sliders to replace the OEM seats and sliders that are falling apart. Got them thru Quadratec here on the Wrangler Forum with no tax and free shipping! Man I can't wait!

In case anybody is interested here are the part numbers.
Seats: 24271.117
Sliders: 24290.100

There's always going to be play, it's the gear box. Part of owning an older vehicle

How much do you feel a little play is? My cj has almost 5 inches of play and everything in the front is tight just how it goes my yj has about an inch so it's not bad just built grab handles while waiting on my master brake cylinder to get here

Search for Adjusting Steering Pre-Load on this forum. Alot of slack is simply caused by a loose steering box. Very easy to adjust.

Use the adjustment screw on the steering box, just dont overtighten.

OR get a Durango steering box the has been re-manufactured for about $100 and make it nice and tight.I would say that is the best way, but there are always the offroad steering boxes for like $400-$500. LOL

Yes. Back off the 9/16 locking nut while you hold the Allen bolt. Turn the Allen bolt a little to the right (1/4 turn at the most). Lock down the locking nut and go drive it. Adjust it again as needed, but just a little at a time. If you tighten it too much you will strip out the gears in the box.
