@keymo--when the water goes up to it past your tires do you worry about it getting to your intake? May I ask why u do not have a snorkel?

Took the doors off today for Memorial Day. A little windy and chilly but god I love driving doorless!

What brand fender flares are those on the green Jeep ? I like those, looks like they give plenty of tire clearance and coverage.

Nah! I wasn't too worried about it!

That was the deepest water I've had her in so far - and I wasn't TEARING through it... I went slow and my intake is above the level of the top of my tires. The only thing I was really worried about was getting my Distributor wet - but I've officially measured it and it's just above my tires - so I know I should only go about that deep and no deeper.. Just to be "safe"

I don't have a snorkel because water like that is NOT common here... And I haven't ever really done or felt the need for a river crossing - we don't have trails in Iowa... At least not like other states. It's just flooded all over because it rained for like a week straight and then again for like 48 hours straight - so all the rivers and pond/lake areas are getting flooded and we just went to some lake access roads (looking for mud) that happened to be flooded from the over-fill..

Have a link to your build thread?

I am curious on your setup there.

Also, those Metalcloak fenders look freaking awesome.

What I did to my YJ today

Now that the jeep is newly painted, fenders put back on, step bars installed, she's looking great but the driver's side door won't open. Had to crawl across the console and exit from the passenger door. Anyone have experience with this problem?

I have not but I have read it hear before, it is the link bar from the handle to the door mechinisim more than likely. You will have to remove the interior door panel to get to it. Good luck, we are ALL counting on you! LOL

What doors do you have ? Half or full ? My full door sticks, but I can fit my finger or something small from the inside to get it to unlatch 100%

Yep, I have that with my passenger door. I need to have the window rolled down to help unlock the door when I open with the key. I'm sure a quick door pull and check of the hardware would fix it

I made write-ups for what I did today!

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/post...up-246311.html

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/dedi...up-246316.html

I hope both will get stickied or put into one of the YJ help stickies as it took me a while to gather up the information in researching for the first one. And the second one is just a good thing for everyone to do...

Now for some beers!

Purchased and install a new matching spare wheel (Eagle alloy 15x10 $126.00 shipped) with new 31x10.50 Wrangler tire($60.00 craigslist) I picked up. The Jeep only had a stock spare wheel and tire when purchased in February this year. But had 31x10.50 tires on 15x10 wheels. Also installed all 23 new splined locking lug nuts on all 5 wheels.

Before

After:

Ready for a road trip to somewhere now.. lol Dirt preferrably !!

So while leaving the GF's dance recital (she's a dance teacher) I pulled out of the parking lot and stopped at a red light. A cop pulled up behind me and as soom as the light turned green he flipped on his lights.

So I pulled over and when I asked him why he pulled me over - as I'd probably only driven maybe 100yards - all he said was "License, registration and insurance, please" So I gave them to him and asked again. He ignored me and went back to his car with my information.

When he returned about 5 minutes later (literally, I was watching my clock) he did a complete walk-around of my YJ BEFORE coming to my window again. When he gave me back my information I asked him AGAIN why he pulled me over and he hesitated and then said: "I'm going to issue you a ticket for equipment violation" I was shocked and asked him what the problem and he said that my windshield wipers were in violation. I asked him how they were in violation and he said that wipers can't be in your window and I said that's what stock YJ wipers were like - then activated the wipers and showed him thay worked and that's just where they stopped.

Then he said, well, I'll give you a verbal warning for those. Then I argued that how can he give me a verbal warning if there's nothing wrong (I know, I shouldn't have argued) and then he paused and looked around the inside of my YJ through the window and then said: "I'm issuing you a verbal warning for your license plate placement." This p!ssed me off and I said: "What's wrong with my license plate? I've had it in the exact same location for 10 years and have been pulled over and even been in an accident and not a single person has said anything to me about it" to which he replied: "Well, you need to move it to the bumper" I gave up at this point because he OBVIOUSLY was just looking for something to say after most likely pulling me over for nothing.

Argh...
