Well if you ever get a ticket for anything he told you was wrong, fight it, as obviously those are how they come from the factory.. heck I'd go look up laws in your state regarding both, print them out and keep them in your glove box for the next time he decides to pull you over. Let him read them lol. I recently got a good bit of advise to make cops think twice before saying something they're unsure of, tell them you're recording them as soon as they approach you. It's your right in any state to record any interaction with police as long as you tell them first. They will be more hesitant to tell you that your vehicle is in violation if they're not 100% sure they're right.

Well, I don't think there's anything I can really do other than TELL them that, that's what stock YJ wipers are like but I just managed to find this:

Iowa Code:
Iowa Code 321.37
Quote:
321.37 DISPLAY OF PLATES.
1. Registration plates issued for a motor vehicle other than a
motorcycle, motorized bicycle or a truck tractor shall be attached to
the motor vehicle, one in the front and the other in the rear. The
registration plate issued for a motorcycle or other vehicle required
to be registered hereunder shall be attached to the rear of the
vehicle. The registration plate issued for a truck tractor shall be
attached to the front of the truck tractor. The special plate issued
to a dealer shall be attached on the rear of the vehicle when
operated on the highways of this state.
2. Registration plates issued for a motor vehicle which is model
year 1948 or older, and reconstructed or specially constructed
vehicles built to resemble a model year 1948 vehicle or older, other
than a truck registered for more than five tons, motorcycle, or truck
tractor, may display one registration plate on the rear of the
vehicle if the other registration plate issued to the vehicle is
carried in the vehicle at all times when the vehicle is operated on a
public highway.
3. It is unlawful for the owner of a vehicle to place any frame
around or over the registration plate which does not permit full view
of all numerals and letters printed on the registration plate.
I don't see ANYTHING about the plate being required to be mounted on the bumper. I'm going to print this out as soon as I have access to a printer - and like you said - keep it in my glovebox.

Haha! If that dude in particular pulls me over again I will DEFINITELY be telling him that I would like to record the traffic stop. I may just have to buy one of those cheap tape recorders and keep it in my console!

EDIT:
Evidently the GF told her Mom who used to work in dispatch and SHE said that when she would go on ride-alongs with cops they would often discriminate in their "Random" traffic stops for white males with shaved heads because they were more likely to find them intoxicated and/or find drugs in the vehicle. I happen to be a white make and I shave my head...

Pulled her out of the garage and gave her a bath. Then decided it was time for a stereo I can hook my iPhone up to. Installed that and now I am itching for an amp and sound bar...

Well, it isn't on yet, as I am waiting on a different accelerator pump, and the 2bbl carb adapter plate, but I rebuilt an MC2150 1.08 for my YJ:

When he returned about 5 minutes later (literally, I was watching my clock) he did a complete walk-around of my YJ BEFORE coming to my window again. When he gave me back my information I asked him AGAIN why he pulled me over and he hesitated and then said: "I'm going to issue you a ticket for equipment violation" I was shocked and asked him what the problem and he said that my windshield wipers were in violation. I asked him how they were in violation and he said that wipers can't be in your window and I said that's what stock YJ wipers were like - then activated the wipers and showed him thay worked and that's just where they stopped.

Then he said, well, I'll give you a verbal warning for those. Then I argued that how can he give me a verbal warning if there's nothing wrong (I know, I shouldn't have argued) and then he paused and looked around the inside of my YJ through the window and then said: "I'm issuing you a verbal warning for your license plate placement." This p!ssed me off and I said: "What's wrong with my license plate? I've had it in the exact same location for 10 years and have been pulled over and even been in an accident and not a single person has said anything to me about it" to which he replied: "Well, you need to move it to the bumper" I gave up at this point because he OBVIOUSLY was just looking for something to say after most likely pulling me over for nothing.

Argh...

Took the dash out, hopefully I'll put a new one in. I don't care for the stock dash and it has been mangled. I also dissected the steering column and fixed the adjustable steering wheel wobble problem.

Power line trails are the BEST (at least around here - central Iowa)! My Dad is a general foreman for a power line company and I'm hoping to hit their paths for their most recent job ASAP when he finally lets me!

Thanks ! I am sure enjoying it. Nice looking Jeep you got there too, very clean. Mine has about 2- 3 inch spring lift only(I rebuilt the springs myself, also added degree shims to correct drive shaft alignment). Stock length shackles. Plan on putting a full 4 inch lift kit in it soon, then a motor re-freshening and clutch this Fall. Then next year get a new set of 33" tires for it.. That will about do it for this old guy. Pretty much got it where I want it.

There service road is pretty rough, and then there is the rough path on the other side!

New windshield hinges. Old ones were frozen solid. Just wish I had done them while the dash speakers were out.

About an hour ago while making a left turn all of a sudden my exhaust noise level went WAY up! WTF??? Drove back home, parked on the grass and crawled under and found the mount by the CAT pulled out of the pipe. HTH did that happen???

Oh well it will be an easy fix but I won't drive it until Friday when I take it to the shop. Bummer man, it's my DD and now I have to take my truck! Good thing IT has AC!

I got it with the jeep, but we did take the lights off and cover the light bar with truck bed paint. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Dropped my old gas tank, and piled up the old FI crap into a box, with harness and PS components. Going up north tomorrow to their new home.

Installed my White Performance HEI Distributor, and my new Adams Drive Shaft front balanced drive shaft today. Thing is running great now. For my next trick, I get to pull all the wires that run the old brain and clean up the harness under the hood. Can't wait.

It should have read "fired it up for the first time in months, hit a few trails, pulled out a few H2s, climbed a ridge on 3 wheels and then parked it" it would have made the jeep and driver much happier!
